Nov 12, 2023; Baltimore, Maryland, USA; Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson (4) throws on the run during the second halfagainst the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports Acquire Licensing RightsNov 15 (Reuters) - Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson will undergo season-ending surgery on a broken bone in his throwing shoulder, the National Football League (NFL) team said on Wednesday in a move that deals a major blow to their playoff hopes. Watson had an MRI on Monday that revealed he had a displaced fracture to the glenoid in his right shoulder and team doctors determined he required immediate surgery to avoid further structural damage, the Browns said in a statement. According to the Browns, the 28-year-old Watson is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2024 NFL season. Another MRI on Monday revealed Watson also suffered a high-ankle sprain during the Ravens game.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson will miss the rest of his second season in Cleveland with a fracture in his throwing shoulder, an injury that came in his best performance since joining the team following a controversial trade. Watson will undergo surgery to repair a non-displaced fracture in his right shoulder, which happened Sunday when he was hit in the first quarter at Baltimore. Now, Watson will have to work his way back from a shoulder injury with just three seasons left on his deal. Watson missed time earlier this season with a strained rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder, and it's not yet known if that injury contributed to the fracture. Coach Kevin Stefanski is expected to go with Walker the rest of the way, but the Browns could consider signing a veteran free agent.

The Patriots (0-1) stifled Jalen Hurts and Philadelphia’s dynamic offense and would’ve won if the offense wasn’t inept. Against spread: 0-1.

Judges presiding over a German court case between 2013 and 2016 involving the measles virus settled a civil dispute about a promised payment and did not rule on the existence of the virus itself, contrary to social media posts falsely claiming the courts decided the virus does not exist. However, judges presiding over the case and subsequent appeals to which the articles refer did not rule on the existence of the measles virus, and expressly said this in court. Dr. David Bardens, a medical student, responded to Lanka’s measles virus challenge on Jan. 31, 2012. He submitted six studies (see citations in clause 21 here) which, Bardens said, provided Lanka with proof that the measles virus exists, and of its size. They did not rule on the existence or non-existence of the measles virus.

Photo: Kirby Lee/USA TODAY Sports via Reuters ConThe biggest news on the day of the NFL draft arrived a few hours before the selections began: The Ravens and star quarterback Lamar Jackson agreed to a record-breaking contract, keeping him in Baltimore for the long haul after he had asked to be traded. The deal is worth $260 million over five years, a person familiar with the matter said. The $52 million annual value marks a new high-water mark in the league and comes after tensions had mounted to the point where Jackson posted on social media a couple months ago that he wanted to play elsewhere.
