When a Tesla vehicle has this mode enabled, it eliminates what owners of the cars refer to as the "nag." The researcher has nicknamed the feature "Elon Mode," but that is not the company's internal nomenclature for it, he said. Instead, Tesla driver assistance systems require a human driver to remain attentive and ready to brake or steer at any moment. Typically, when a Tesla driver is using Autopilot or FSD (or their variations), a visual symbol blinks on the car's touchscreen to prompt drivers to apply resistance to the steering wheel at frequent intervals. If the driver does not grasp the steering wheel, the nag escalates to a beeping noise.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk thinks the automaker's market capitalization is directly tied to whether the automaker is able to solve autonomous driving, the billionaire told LVMH scion Antoine Arnault on Friday. "Sometimes I've said, 'Hey, I think the stock price is too high at Tesla,' and then the stock price goes up. But Musk also suggested Tesla's market cap was tied to whether the company could perfect autonomous driving technology. "Really the value of the company is primarily on the basis of autonomy," Musk said. Musk has said for several years that Tesla is close to solving autonomous driving, but the company's cars still only provide advanced driver assistance features.

A Tesla charging station stands in a parking lot on January 17, 2023 in Springfield, Virginia. But other EV charging companies have, so far, faced a far greater reliability challenge than Tesla’s. It’s an integrated system and has been from the very beginning,” said Jim Burness, chief executive of National Car Charging, a wholesaler of equipment to the EV charging industry. In both cases, drivers will be able to access Tesla chargers without having to use Tesla apps. That could lead to more lines at Tesla chargers, irritating Tesla owners.

Tesla owners have previously enjoyed sole access to the company's charging stations. Tesla owners probably won't be very happy that the EV maker is opening up its Supercharger network to outsiders. Tesla's Supercharger network is comprised of some 7,000 locations in North America, according to the Department of Energy. But allowing other car owners to use the network may also eventually benefit Tesla owners, too. How do you feel about Tesla allowing other EV owners to use the Supercharger network?

Tesla will let Ford and GM access its Supercharger network starting in 2024. Tesla is beginning to show just how much potential its technology and infrastructure really have. Starting in 2024, both automakers will be able to give their customers access to Tesla's expansive charging network with adapters. But this may just be the beginning of Tesla starting to cash in on its proprietary technologies. Even with the addition of Ford, GM, and other car makers," Munster said.

Most other EVs and charging stations in the U.S. use the public domain Combined Charging System (CCS) plug standard. Currently, Tesla EVs can use CCS chargers with an adapter, but only Teslas can use NACS chargers. An August 2022 study by JD Power found similar results for CCS chargers in other parts of the country. Notably, it also found Tesla's charging network to be much more reliable. Potential buyers of a Ford or GM EV might like what they experience on a test drive, but without a reliable charging network, both have been at a disadvantage to Tesla.

Three Tesla Models come with "bioweapon defense mode." Using HEPA air filters and positive pressure, Tesla says you could ride out a military attack in one. Tesla owners posted videos of the mode in use amid thick wildfire smoke this week. Tesla added intense air filtration to three of its models years ago and drivers are once again finding them useful for unhealthy air sweeping across North America. Tesla's bioweapon mode acts as an air pressure buffer on top of the usual HEPA filtration, similar to the positive ventilation used in surgical facilities to keep any pollutants out.

But it may raise concerns that Tesla, which already dominates electric vehicle sales, could overwhelm competitors in the fast-growing charging business. gets access to more chargers, Tesla will make money from selling energy to owners of models made by other automakers. Tesla has been charging owners of those other cars higher rates than owners of its own cars. Neither of the Michigan-based automakers sells anywhere near as many electric cars as Tesla, and neither operates a charging network. Tesla owners may become irritated that they will now have to queue with cars made by Ford and G.M.

Austin Evans said he decided to sell his Tesla Model Y over a variety of small build defects. Evans replaced the Tesla with a Mercedes EQS, which he said feels like a private jet. Tech YouTuber Austin Evans sold his family's 2021 Tesla Model Y because he was fed up with a myriad of quality concerns. In the video, Evans also provided a sneak peek at his new family car, a Mercedes EQS SUV. Evans is one of many Tesla owners to describe quality control issues with the EVs, including issues with panel alignment on the car, paint jobs, and leaks in the cabin.
Tesla's Model Y outsold all other vehicles in the first quarter this year. For the first time, an electric car was the top-selling vehicle around the world in the first quarter, and there's no surprise it was a Tesla. The EV market leader's Model Y outsold all other vehicles in Q1, according to estimates from JATO Dynamics published by the enthusiast publication Motor1. Tesla CEO Elon Musk predicted his midsize SUV would outpace all other vehicles this year back in August 2022. Tesla has been caught in consumer crossfires as the company has cut prices of its vehicles, including the Model Y.

Companies Tesla Inc FollowSAN FRANCISCO, May 3 (Reuters) - Proxy advisory firm ISS on Wednesday recommended Tesla investors vote against the re-election of board chair Robyn Denholm, citing concerns about a lack of scrutiny of the pledging of some company stocks by CEO Elon Musk and his brother Kimbal Musk. Tesla shares are down about 60% from their record high reached in November 2021. The shares pledged by Elon Musk accounted for 58% of his Tesla ownership, ISS said. ISS recommended votes for Musk and co-founder JB Straubel as board members. Proxy advisory firm Glass Lewis last month recommended Tesla shareholders vote against Straubel, citing worries about his independence because he served as chief technology officer at Tesla until 2019.
A Tesla driver in Colorado was fatally shot on Wednesday at a Tesla Supercharger station. The man who allegedly shot the driver left the scene before calling police; he was subsequently taken into custody. A Tesla driver was killed Wednesday following an altercation at a charging station. A Tesla with Sentry Mode reportedly captured footage of a man setting the EV on fire. The video, posted by a news outlet, appears to show a man pouring liquid on the car and setting it ablaze. The Tesla owner told local news he was visiting a friend when the incident occurred overnight. A Tesla customer's Model S cameras appeared to capture footage of a man setting the car on fire last week. "I can't fathom myself wanting to set fire to anything for any political reason, whatever," Harriston told local news.
Used Tesla Model 3 and Model Ys aren't depreciating substantially, a new study says. Elon Musk's price-cutting frenzy at Tesla doesn't appear to be impacting the company's impressive resale values, according to new data released this week. Slightly more used EVs are being priced just below $25,000 in recent months in order for customers to get the used credit. In September of last year, Tesla made up for roughly two-thirds of the used EV market. This prevents Teslas from flooding the used car market and gives the company more control over its own resale market.
[1/2] A Tesla Model 3 vehicle drives on autopilot along the 405 highway in Westminster, California, U.S., March 16, 2022. Tesla denied liability for the accident and said in a court filing that Hsu used Autopilot on city streets, despite a user manual warning against doing so. "This case should be a wakeup call to Tesla owners: they can't over-rely on Autopilot, and they really need to be ready to take control and Tesla is not a self-driving system," he said. The Hsu trial unfolded in Los Angeles Superior Court over three weeks, with testimony from three Tesla engineers. The main question in Autopilot cases was who is responsible for an accident while a car is in driver-assistant Autopilot mode - a human driver, the machine, or both?
Elon Musk was grilled about Tesla's recent price cuts during the carmaker's earnings call. Investors and analysts questioned Elon Musk on Tesla's recent price cuts during the companies earnings call on Wednesday. The Tesla CEO answered over a half dozen questions around the company's recent price cuts and their impact on the electric-car maker's profit margin during the call. Tesla owners and investors alike have not responded positively to the price cuts. Its gross profit margin dipped just below analyst expectations to about 19.3%, with analysts blaming price cuts.
SAN FRANCISCO, April 7 (Reuters) - A California Tesla owner on Friday sued the electric carmaker in a prospective class action lawsuit accusing it of violating the privacy of customers. "Tesla needs to be held accountable for these invasions and for misrepresenting its lax privacy practices to him and other Tesla owners," Fitzgerald said. It said Yeh was filing the complaint "against Tesla on behalf of himself, similarly-situated class members, and the general public." Reuters reported that some Tesla employees could see customers "doing laundry and really intimate things. The lawsuit asks the court "to enjoin Tesla from engaging in its wrongful behavior, including violating the privacy of customers and others, and to recover actual and punitive damages."
Tesla is facing a new class-action lawsuit on behalf of anyone who owned or leased a Tesla since 2019. The suit claims Tesla violated privacy laws when employees accessed and shared private photos and videos of customers. Tesla employees could access footage captured by the onboard cameras, Reuters reported earlier this week. The suit cites several stories from the Reuters report, which included Tesla employees saying they allegedly shared photos and videos of Tesla owners amongst themselves. Reuters also reported that employees allegedly shared videos and images of road rage incidents and accidents, including one where a child was knocked off a bike.
To report this story, Reuters contacted more than 300 former Tesla employees who had worked at the company over the past nine years and were involved in developing its self-driving system. The company requires car owners to grant permission on the cars’ touchscreens before Tesla collects their vehicles’ data. Reuters found that Tesla employees shared clips that captured sensitive and embarrassing personal moments. Tesla’s own data labelers initially worked in the San Francisco Bay area, including the office in San Mateo. According to several ex-employees, some labelers shared screenshots, sometimes marked up using Adobe Photoshop, in private group chats on Mattermost, Tesla’s internal messaging system.
Rumors have swirled about Model 3 and Model Y updates, but nothing official yet from Tesla. "When you move to higher-volume vehicles, you have to start keeping up with the Joneses," one analyst said. Rumors have swirled online about incoming refreshes of the Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, but Tesla has yet to set a release date for these updates. "When you move to higher-volume vehicles, you have to start keeping up with the Joneses," Fiorani said. This year, Musk has said Tesla aims to build 2 million vehicles, nearly doubling its 2022 production capacity.
Elon Musk has made developing autonomous driving technology one of Tesla's fundamental goals. "Today it's financially insane to buy anything other than a Tesla," Musk said at an event touting the carmaker's autonomous-vehicle development in 2019. That revolutionary software update never came, and by 2022 the goalpost for bringing self-driving cars to the masses had shifted to 2023. Full Self-Driving is far from actually being self-driving, some sayDespite its branding, Tesla's Full Self-Driving Beta currently requires total driver supervision, just like cruise control or smarter features like Autopilot. Likewise, McGehee says self-driving cars need a combination of overlapping sensors — whether that's cameras, radar, lidar, or ultrasonic sensors — to move through the world safely.
Elon Musk said Twitter users must have good customer service, and that he was working on it. Customers of his other companies have said they're disappointed at the lack of customer service. "Of course, you need to have good customer service for money," Musk tweeted, adding he was "working on it." Some commented on how slow and unresponsive Tesla's customer service was, while others said it was quick and easy. Are you a Starlink user or Tesla owner who is disappointed with the company's customer service?
