We started going on a walk with them every evening, and it helped so much. Adding a walk to our routine helps our family connect, and helps ease them into bedtime. That is until I began implementing a tried-and-true parenting hack in our evening routine: a change of scenery. I decided to re-commence our evening walks once power lines had been repaired and fallen trees removed, and as expected, there was some pushback from my preschoolers. Once our meal is in the oven or turned to simmer, I announce, "It's time for our evening walk!"

A Central California woman died from rabies after she was bitten by a bat, officials said Tuesday, in the first fatality from the saliva-passed disease in her county in more than 30 years. Seneng, an art teacher, saw the bat in her classroom and didn't think anything of helping it get on its way, Splotch said. "She found it in her classroom before school started and, being a kind-hearted person, she didn't want to hurt any animals. This rabies death was the first in Fresno County since 1992, according to deputy health officer Dr. Trinidad Solis. "Rabies is 100% preventable if individuals seek medical care right away," Solis told reporters last week, shortly after Seneng's passing.

A former ballerina who was convicted of manslaughter in what she claimed was the self-defense killing of her estranged husband was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison. Ashley Benefield, 33, had faced a maximum sentence of 30 years in the fatal shooting of Doug Benefield, 58, at her Florida home on Sept. 27, 2020. Benefield was also sentenced to 10 years of probation after her prison sentence, NBC affiliate WFLA in Tampa reported. In trial testimony, she described her husband as controlling and volatile, with a history of abusive behavior. Benefield sought a second injunction in 2020 that accused her husband of child abuse.

BYD has surpassed its annual sales target a month ahead of schedule, throwing down a gauntlet for Tesla as Elon Musk's company scrambles to meet its own annual goal. The Chinese EV giant delivered 504,000 passenger vehicles in November, according to figures released on Sunday.
