Lone Pine Capital made new bets on some high-performing power producers and one big streaming company in the first quarter, a new Securities and Exchange Commission filing shows. Lone Pine, founded by Stephen Mandel in 1997, added a $446.7 million position in Vistra Corp. and a $161.9 million stake in Constellation Energy in the first quarter. Lone Pine also added new positions in drug and medical supplies distributor McKesson and mobile tech company AppLovin , worth about $368 million and $300 million, respectively. The new additions came as Lone Pine significantly cut its holdings in three big tech companies: Meta Platforms, Taiwan Semiconductor and Amazon . Microsoft is Lone Pine's third-largest position, trailing Taiwan Semiconductor, which Lone Pine reduced by 11%.

CNN —Over a decade after viewers said goodbye to beloved NBC series “The Office,” a new comedy set in the same universe as everyone’s favorite paper company Dunder Mifflin is coming to Peacock. Daniels and Koman will also produce the series with original “Office” creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Many cast members became household names following the widespread and early success of the series, which won five Emmys throughout its run. Like its predecessor starring Gervais, the series followed a mockumentary-style format with cast members breaking the fourth wall as a crew followed staffers around an office, capturing tedious day-to-day tasks, office romances and at-times outlandish behavior. It is not yet known if any previous cast members will make cameos in the Peacock series, which is set to begin production in July.

If the American experiment finally decides to call it quits, how might a national breakup begin? Unlike the actual US Civil War, this one doesn’t seem to have any particular racial or racist connotations. But it’s the same kind of cop out that powers most of Hollywood’s most iconic Vietnam war movies. Hollywood Vietnam war movies generally aren’t about whether America did the right thing, nor are they about how America’s choices affected people in Vietnam. Stanley Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket" (1987), starring Matthew Modine as Joker, is based on the events of the Vietnam war.
