Guralnik is the star of the Showtime documentary series "Couples Therapy," in which she analyzes real patients in a room with hidden cameras. While financial issues can spark intense conflict for couples, Guralnik doesn't believe money, or the lack of it, is the real reason they split up. "If you're refusing to look at your bank account when you're pulling out your credit card, you can accrue debt," Guralnik said. People are "shielding themselves from knowing reality" when they refuse to pay attention to their finances, Guralnik said. Two people in a relationship can have vastly different attitudes about money, Guralnik said.

Federal prosecutors have charged Representative George Santos of New York with 13 counts of money laundering, stealing public money, wire fraud and making false statements to Congress. Prosecutors said the charges resulted from “fraudulent schemes and brazen misrepresentations” designed to mislead donors, enrich Mr. Santos and win a seat in Congress as a Republican from Queens. The Times reported than Mr. Santos registered a company, RedStone Strategies, in November 2021, the same date noted in the indictment, and told donors it was an “independent expenditure” group, or super PAC. Mr. Santos was also charged with three counts of money laundering in connection to the donor solicitation scheme. Mr. Santos was earning $120,000 a year through his employment at a Florida-based investment company, but prosecutors said he repeatedly told the state he had been unemployed since March 2020.

The second set of accusations concern Santos’ allegedly false applications for unemployment benefits, resulting in a theft of public money count and two more wire fraud counts. To establish the alleged unemployment fraud scheme, investigators likely have the attestations Santos allegedly made to participate in the public benefits program. The House disclosure documents that Santos allegedly lied on are publicly available documents. There’s also the potential that, instead of a jury trial, Santos seeks a bench trial – i.e.

Mr. Sebesky’s musical interests ranged far and wide. From the beginning, Mr. Taylor and CTI were on a mission to broaden the audience for jazz by exploring intersections with pop, rock and R&B, and by making music that was more accessible to mainstream audiences than some of jazz’s more esoteric strains. It was an approach that displeased some purists, but it sold records, and Mr. Sebesky’s arranging skills were pivotal to that success. Mr. Sebesky arranged the saxophonist Paul Desmond’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” (1970), an album of interpretations of Simon & Garfunkel songs. Pairing Mr. Benson with that song was an idea Mr. Sebesky had proposed to Mr. Taylor, but with a twist.
New York CNN —Facebook’s parent company Meta announced Wednesday that it has taken down a network of more than 100 China-based accounts that posed as organizations in the US and Europe and pushed pro-Beijing talking points. The network, which had more than 15,000 followers on Meta’s platforms, appears to have had some financial resources behind it. The fake accounts also posted “negative commentary about Uyghur activists and critics of the Chinese state,” it said. “We’re keeping a close eye” on the Chinese influence operations heading into the 2024 election, the official said. Ahead of the 2022 US midterm election, FBI officials expressed concern that Chinese operatives appeared to be engaging in “Russian-style influence activities” that stoke American divisions.

I asked Fair if it was fair to say that polarization of voters has weakened the predictive value of economic indicators. He acknowledged that Trump, an especially polarizing figure, had underperformed in both 2016 and 2020 given economic conditions that the Fair model considered favorable to him. But he said he’s not convinced that his economic model has lost its predictive power. A good example of why it’s dangerous to over-rely on economic models is what happened in the spring of 2020, when Covid hit. Fair is sticking to forecasting the popular vote because he thinks it’s of academic interest.
But on Wednesday, Santos received a warm reception at a DC happy hour for young conservatives. But he was still a star for the Washington, DC Young Republicans, a group that was taken over just a month ago by a cadre of self-described "ultra MAGA" young conservatives who emphatically align themselves with former President Donald Trump. —Washington, D.C. Young Republicans (@WashingtonDCYRs) April 27, 2023"Keep fighting for what you think is best, and for what you believe in," said Santos after speaking for less than 10 minutes. Perhaps owing to his precarious political standing, Santos has yet to break from party leadership on any major votes, contrasting with other New York Republicans who won Democratic-leaning districts last year. Attendees mill around before Rep. Santos' arrival.

The carrier has 137 MAX planes in its fleet with firm orders for 417, plus another 147 as options. Though Boeing and its partners are still assessing the impact of the most recent delivery stoppage, delivery delays have become a serious trend for the planemaker. And, Boeing said despite its recent 787 delivery pause, it didn't "anticipate a change to our production and delivery outlook for the year."

Kwasi Mitchell, Deloitte's chief purpose officer, says he's driven, not overwhelmed, by his job. As Deloitte's first chief purpose officer, his reach across corporate America is great. I had a conversation with my boss at that time, and he said, "We've heard you with respect to your concerns on not wanting to step into this role right now. AI Technology has advanced rapidly and gained popularity in recent years. Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt told ABC News the technology has promise, but there are concerns. He said the industry has to work to find "guardrails" to prevent negative impacts on democracy. Schmidt, who was Google's CEO from 2001 to 2011 and the company's executive chairman from 2011 to 2015, laid out the promise and peril of AI technology during the interview. The tech leader said the entire industry needs to come together to figure out appropriate "guardrails" because the technology is only going to get bigger.
Trump's campaign said it raised more than $4 million after he was indicted. It said that the influx of grassroots donations demonstrated the American people's support for Trump. "This incredible surge of grassroots contributions confirms that the American people see the indictment of President Trump as a disgraceful weaponization of our justice system by a Soros-funded prosecutor," the statement said. The campaign said the donations further solidified Trump's status as "the clear frontrunner in the Republican primary." Trump and his campaign have repeatedly lashed out at Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and tried to frame the indictment as a political attack.
The Manhattan attorney's office investigating Donald Trump has been "inundated" with calls from angry supporters. The callers have been parroting Trump's rhetoric and hurling racial slurs against DA Alvin Bragg. In recent days, the Manhattan DA's office has been the victim of several death threats. In a since-deleted post, Trump also shared a photo of himself holding a baseball bat, ready to swing, next to Bragg. "I'm not his social media consultant," Trump lawyer Joe Tacopina told NBC's Chuck Todd on "Meet the Press" on Sunday.
