CNN —Emmy, Grammy, and Tony award-winning, American actor Billy Porter and celebrated South African television presenter Bonang Matheba have been tapped to host the fourth annual Earthshot Prize Awards in South Africa on November 6. The Earthshot Prize is an ambitious environmental initiative founded by Prince William back in 2020 that seeks to offer green solutions to some of the world’s most pressing problems. Former British nurse and convicted child serial killer Lucy Letby on Thursday lost an attempt to appeal against her conviction for trying to murder a newborn baby, amid questions over the fairness of her trials. Judge William Davis refused Letby’s application for leave to appeal against the conviction from her retrial. Letby attended the hearing by videolink from prison and sat impassively as the judge stated the court’s reasons for refusing her application. She can now only challenge those convictions if the Criminal Cases Review Commission refer those cases back to the Court of Appeal. Since her trials, Letby’s conviction has come under a spotlight, following criticism by some experts of medical and statistical evidence presented by the prosecution.

Some users on Yelp blamed the McDonald’s franchise for allowing Trump to host a campaign event there. McDonald’s was thrust into the political spotlight Sunday when Trump served fries at a Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, location, even though the chain attempted to distance itself from the stunt. Yelp will flag and temporarily disable reviews on businesses that have received increased public attention. On Sunday, McDonald’s said in an internal memo to employees obtained by CNN that it did not invite Trump.

Liam Payne's One Direction bandmates are "completely devastated" by his death, they said in a statement on the boy band's Instagram account Thursday, one day after Payne's death at an Argentina hotel.
