Newcrest CEO Biswas steps down, hunt for new chief underway

MELBOURNE, Dec 19 (Reuters) - Newcrest Mining Ltd (NCM.AX) Chief Executive Sandeep Biswas will retire from his role at the helm of Australia's largest gold producer, the company said on Monday. Chief Financial Officer Sherry Duhe, who joined the company in February, will step in as interim chief executive while a global internal and external search for a replacement is underway, Newcrest said in a filing to the exchange. Duhe comes from an energy background, having previously worked as CFO of Woodside Energy, and spent 13 years at Shell. NEW DELHI — The leading hospital in India’s capital limped back to normalcy on Wednesday after a cyberattack crippled its operations for nearly two weeks. Online registration of patients resumed Tuesday after the hospital was able to access its server and recover lost data. The attack was followed by a series of failed attempts to hack India’s top medical research organization, the Indian Council of Medical Research. “We are digitizing (everything), but then there is an attack on the country’s most important medical institute,” he said. Nov 10 (Reuters) - WeWork Inc (WE.N) forecast fourth-quarter revenue below estimates and said it will exit about 40 underperforming U.S. locations, sending shares down over 15%, as the workspace provider deals with high expenses and a strong U.S. dollar. "A recession is going to materially impact WeWork's operations because SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) are going to cut costs. WeWork expects fourth-quarter revenue of between $870 million and $890 million, below Wall Street targets of $923.8 million. WeWork went public in 2021 after a two-year struggle and currently has a market cap of around $1.77 billion. It reported third-quarter revenue of $817 million, below market expectations of $865 million, according to a Refinitiv poll of five analysts.

MUMBAI, Oct 22 (Reuters) - ICICI Bank (ICBK.NS), India's second-largest private-sector lender, reported a 37% rise in quarterly net profit on Saturday as loan growth inched up and provisions for bad loans fell. Net profit for the three-months ending Sept. 30 rose to 75.58 billion rupees ($916 million), broadly in line with analysts' estimate of 73.51 billion rupees, according to Refinitiv IBES data. Net interest income, which is the difference between interest earned and paid out, was 147.9 billion rupees, a rise of 26% on the year-earlier period, the bank said in a statement. Loans increased across segments, including large corporate, although the bank was focusing on higher rated corporate borrowers, it said. The lender is holding adequate liquidity and does not see deposit growth as constraint on the bank's overall growth, said executive director Sandeep Batra.
