New York CNN —The US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ordered Goldman Sachs and Apple to pay $89 million, and Goldman was temporarily banned from issuing new credit cards, because of the companies’ mishandling of their Apple Card partnership. Apple neglected to send tens of thousands of Apple Card disputes to Goldman Sachs, the CFPB said. The Apple Card issued by Goldman Sachs and running on the Mastercard network rolled out in August 2019. In April 2023, Apple announced it would be offering its Apple Card holders a 4.15% high-yield savings account with Goldman Sachs. They may park both the 3% cash back they receive from using the Apple Card on select purchases plus other savings they may wish to deposit.

EY has fired dozens of staff in the US over code of conduct breaches, the FT first reported. The staff watched multiple online training courses simultaneously, the report said. The dismissals took place last week after an investigation found that the staff had watched multiple online training courses simultaneously during "EY Ignite Learning Week" in May, the FT reported. They said that there had been no warning that watching courses simultaneously was not allowed and that multitasking was part of EY's culture. The SEC said hundreds of EY accounting staff shared answers to exam questions "over multiple years."

Municipal bonds not only offer solid, tax-free income — they should also see some capital appreciation later this year, according to UBS. Consumers are still spending and the combination of job growth, higher wages and slowing inflation should continue to push households' real disposable income higher, he added. Further, the longer end of the muni bond yield curve is also starting to look attractive, he said. Investors hoping to take a diversified approach to municipal bonds may want to consider an exchange-traded fund. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), which took effect in the beginning of 2018, overhauled the federal tax code. It roughly doubled the standard deduction, adjusted individual income tax brackets , lowered most of the rates and applied a $10,000 cap on the state and local tax deduction. Mutual funds tend to have higher turnover – that is, buying and selling of underlying securities – and by law they must distribute capital gains. Visitors to the drive-thru had to be screened by the Secret Service and didn't get to choose what Trump handed them, the Post reported. With the 2024 election hitting its homestretch, the leading pro-crypto super PAC has funneled a big chunk of its final donations to close House races as part of an effort to push candidates favorable to the group's agenda over the top. Of that sum, $20 million went to two affiliated PACs — $15 million to the Defend American Jobs PAC, a single-issue committee focused on cryptocurrency and blockchain policy that's favored Republicans, and $5 million to Protect Progress, which has only supported Democrats. Of the House donations, $6.2 million went to Democratic candidates and $2.3 million to Republicans. Crypto groups have spent over $130 million in congressional races for this year's election, including the primaries, according to FEC data.

As the garbage came down, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian and then other members of the Texas team walked to the corner of the end zone waving their hands and asking students to stop. They were unable to go sideline-to-sideline or downhill as Georgia met Texas with force every step of the way. The second half got dicey, with Georgia giving up two touchdowns on relatively short fields, one after the controversial interception/overturned pass interference, the other after Georgia for some reason squib-kicked the second half kickoff. In the second half, Ewers returned and led a touchdown drive to open the third quarter. Mykel Williams forced a second Ewers fumble with 10:23 left in the game, thwarting a Texas drive in Georgia territory.

A few possessions later, Tennessee sealed the win with a Will Brooks interception of Jalen Milroe with 1:24 to play. Though the Tide won last year in Tuscaloosa, Saturday marked Tennessee’s second consecutive win against Alabama at Neyland Stadium, something that hadn’t happened since 2004 and 2006. The Vols jumped to 56 percent after the win, and the Tide fell to 53 percent, according to The Athletic’s Austin Mock. A loss to Tennessee coupled with the loss to Vanderbilt and a lackluster win against South Carolina puts Alabama in a simple but challenging position: win out or bust. That changed in 2023, when Texas went 12-2 in coach Steve Sarkisian’s third season and appeared in the College Football Playoff for the first time. Like Texas, Georgia spent much of the last 30 years boasting a past national championship and a campus in a recruiting-rich part of the country, with little modern success to show for it. The quarterback of the Bulldogs’ back-to-back championship teams was not a former high-star recruit but he did grow up in Georgia. In the decade before Sarkisian’s hiring, Texas recruiting classes finished with an average rank of 10.8 in the country; in three recruiting classes under Sarkisian, Texas has averaged a ranking of 4.6. In the eyes of Texas fans, the Longhorns won’t qualify as fully back until they win the program’s first football national championship since 2006.
