Achieving success at an early age is impressive in any industry, but it's particularly awe-inspiring on Wall Street. Kuenzel, who started as an intern at hedge fund Citadel in 2018 and focused on quantitative research, spoke about his rise within Griffin's financial empire. It's a good lesson for how fixing issues at work is a surefire way to supercharge your career. The Fed and the SEC are investigating the work Goldman did with SVB in the lead-up to its failure, The Wall Street Journal reports. If you're suffering from pre-diabetes or obesity, intermittent fasting could be a good way to control your blood sugar.

The Federal Reserve enacts monetary policies to stabilize prices and maximize employment in the U.S. economy. These dueling goals are known as the dual mandate. For example, if prices are too hot, the Fed may vote to raise interest rates to influence a decrease in borrowing. Other experts argue that the dual mandate remains key to keeping the U.S. economy safe and stable. Watch this video to see how the Fed tries to strike a near-impossible balance to promote both parts of the dual mandate.

Hong Kong CNN —China’s carbon emissions will likely hit a new record in 2023 on the back of an economic rebound, but a rapid expansion in green energy will enable its emissions to peak soon, a global energy think tank said on Friday. However, the emissions could peak soon, as China has accelerated its clean energy push and installed record amounts of solar and wind power capacity, the analysts pointed out. Coal production surged 11% in 2022 from 2021, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. This will lead to a sharp increase in bank lending and investment, particularly for manufacturing, transportation and energy production, they added. “When low-carbon power growth matches — and then exceeds — the annual increase in electricity demand, the sector’s CO2 emissions will peak,” they said.
Police have raided corporate offices as part of China’s efforts to shield the country from foreign influence. Photo: Cfoto/Zuma PressChina’s national security agencies have uncovered espionage by local units of foreign consulting companies, according to state media, in the first official confirmation that a nationwide sweep of corporate intelligence and due diligence firms is under way. Police recently raided offices of Capvision across China, alleging the New York-based provider of expert consultations and research paid employees of state-owned companies to leak secrets, China Central Television reported Monday. The rare and detailed disclosure of such investigations came after authorities raided U.S. due diligence firm Mintz Group ’s Beijing office and detained local staff in late March. Police also questioned employees at Bain & Co. ’s office in Shanghai last month.

Police have raided corporate offices as part of China’s efforts to shield the country from foreign influence. Photo: Cfoto/Zuma PressChina signaled through state-run media that its national security agencies are engaged in a nationwide investigation into whether the due-diligence industry that has grown up to serve Western businesses in the country has been used for foreign espionage. State broadcaster China Central Television and other official news outlets said that amid Western pressure on China, profit-oriented consulting firms sometimes have a weak awareness of the country’s national security concerns, and had frequently operated at the edge of legality to gather information in sensitive sectors of the military, the defense industry, the economy and finance. CCTV said some consultants in China have caused harm to national security, ultimately becoming accomplices to the West in “spying, buying and extorting state secrets and intelligence.”

Five others received sentences in the same case ranging from eight to 13 years for “the abducting and selling of women.”A video clip showing the woman chained by the neck set off nationwide outrage after it started circulating on social media last year. It showed the woman in a thin sweater, a metal chain around her neck in a structure without a door.
