The pilot of the Japan Coast Guard plane misinterpreted air traffic control instructions. Limited visibility and air traffic control oversight were additional factors in the collision. According to the report, the Coast Guard pilot mistakenly believed he had clearance to enter the runway. The air traffic controller told the coast guard plane that it was "No.

This year, I got in touch with several longevity experts to talk about living a long, healthy life — and to learn more about their own personal practices . Most longevity experts follow time-restricted eatingIn my conversations with doctors and researchers who study how to live longer, almost all seemed to recommend or follow time-restricted eating — commonly known as intermittent fasting. They have cheat meals and non-negotiablesAs serious as longevity experts are about their health, they still give themselves a bit of grace. Buettner, who helped coin the term "blue zones," enjoys going out for dinner with his friends and acknowledges that it likely doesn't align with a longevity diet. "When he gets older, he's probably not going to want to spend as much time, so I'm taking advantage.

Republicans are defending a slim Senate majority in 2026, but Democrats still have a tough fight ahead to take control of the chamber. Another factor that could shake up the Senate map: whether longtime lawmakers like Sen. Mitch McConnell, the outgoing GOP leader, decide to retire. As the battle for the Senate takes shape, here are the key races to watch. Collins defeated former state House Speaker Sara Gideon by 9 points in 2020, even as Joe Biden won the state by 9 points, too. The UK said it has live-fired its new anti-drone radio weapon that costs only about 10 pence to fire. The driver, named as Huang Wen, was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve by a court in Changde city in Hunan province, state news agency Xinhua reported Monday. Huang was arrested on site after injuring 30 people, including 18 students, on the morning of November 19, according to the court. The court said Huang launched the attack to vent his frustration after suffering investment losses and conflicts with family members. Video circulating on social media and geolocated by CNN showed dozens of panicked schoolchildren screaming and running into the schoolyard, with a man’s voice heard yelling “quickly, quickly,” in the background. Last month, China’s top judge called on court officials to hand out swift and severe punishment for violent attacks on the public.

Merchants who sell on TikTok Shop may struggle to find an alternative if the ban goes through. TikTok Shop offers a unique blend of social tools, e-commerce tech, and a large audience. If TikTok is pulled from US app stores in January due to a divest-or-ban law, many of its creators will be fine. For some merchants who sell goods on TikTok Shop, there isn't an obvious alternative. TikTok Shop even has its own app store, bringing it closer to super-app status.

The guidelines also emphasize that drinking less alcohol is better than drinking more and that those who do not currently drink alcohol should not start drinking. CNN: Are there benefits to trying to stop alcohol for sober challenges such as Dry January or Sober October? Is your goal to avoid alcohol altogether, to reduce intake on an ongoing basis or to stop drinking large amounts in one setting? If you want to avoid alcohol altogether and alcohol is a major temptation for you, you may wish to look for social settings where alcohol will not be served. If your priority is to stop binge drinking, the advice above of writing down drinks and planning ahead also applies.

AdvertisementTogether, the claims describe a US prison medical culture defined by a gross disregard for human life. In dozens of cases in BI's sample, incarcerated people said they were denied emergency medical treatment by corrections officers or medical staff despite obvious medical distress. But according to his complaint and internal grievance files, the prison medical staff denied Kirk's request to be seen at a hospital. In at least a dozen cases BI examined, outside medical authorities, such as hospital doctors, testified that the medical treatment prisoners received was substandard. As Mann's abdominal pain continued over the next two years, according to medical records, prison medical staff ordered X-rays and lab work but did not conduct a thorough oncological screening.

Sdi Productions | E+ | Getty ImagesThe U.S. job market has undergone a dramatic transformation in recent years, from one characterized by record levels of employee turnover to one in which there is little churn. In short, the "great resignation" of 2021 and 2022 has morphed into what some labor economists call the "great stay," a job market with low levels of hiring, quits and layoffs. "The turbulence of the pandemic-era labor market is increasingly in the rearview mirror," said Julia Pollak, chief economist at ZipRecruiter. How the job market has changedEmployers clamored to hire as the U.S. economy reopened from its Covid-fueled lull. Big causes for the great stayEmployer "scarring" is a primary driver of the so-called great stay, ZipRecruiter's Pollak said.

AdvertisementCurrently, individuals and married couples can gift or bequeath $13.61 million and $27.22 million, respectively, before a 40% federal estate tax kicks in. The heirs don't own the trust assets but rather have lifetime rights to the trust's income and real estate. Any payout is also protected from estate taxes, even if the insured's estate and death benefit exceed the exemption. This tactic can also be used to save on estate taxes by ultra-rich entrepreneurs who have already used their exemption but have less-wealthy parents who haven't. When the children inherit the assets, the federal estate tax doesn't kick in as long as the grandparents' estate does not exceed $27.22 million.

The traffic cameras, which use AI to detect and flag certain driving behaviors, might make it easier to prosecute more people than ever before for driving infractions. Acusensus, an Australian company, has worked with governments in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States to roll out some of the AI traffic cameras. Its camera system, called “Heads Up,” uses AI to catch drivers who are texting while driving or aren’t wearing seat belts. Speed and red light cameras are already familiar to U.S. drivers, capturing license plates and sending tickets by mail. The Queensland government reported that since it set up the cameras, road deaths have gone down by 7.1%.

Even though Republicans will control the White House, the House and the Senate, they’ll again need Democratic votes to stop a shutdown in less than three months. CNN —How often one should poop has been a hot topic, with experts saying the numerical range partly depends on several personal factors. During the day, most healthy people pee about six to eight times, said Dr. Jamin Brahmbhatt, a urologist at Orlando Health and CNN contributor. “For most, it’s reasonable to need to pee every (three to four) hours during the day,” Brahmbhatt added via email. There are several other minimally invasive treatments available, experts said, including medications, bladder Botox injections and types of nerve stimulation, Kim said. Unfortunately there aren’t as many treatments for underactive bladder, Kim said, except for self-administered intermittent catheterization, long-term catheterization and sacral neuromodulation, a bladder pacemaker.
