SILVERSTONE, England, July 8 (Reuters) - Lando Norris is used to strange requests from a legion of fans at his home British Grand Prix - but signing a baby's forehead was a step too far. "I just get more and more people wanting me to decide their tattoos and stuff," he told reporters. "I used to call (former team mate) Carlos (Sainz) a muppet," he explained. Norris could be the top British driver on Sunday, with Mercedes' seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton and George Russell outside the top 10 in Friday practice. The McLaren driver was already top Brit in Austria last weekend when he finished fourth behind a podium of Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez (first and third) with Ferrari's Charles Leclerc second.

The movie cars are also set to feature on the grid, without driving a formation lap, and be on track in between the sessions. The Apple TV film is being directed by Joseph Kosinski, the director of "Top Gun: Maverick", with producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Hamilton said the movie would also do justice to a sport where cars can hit top speeds of 370kph. I think it’s going to look faster than it does on TV," he said. The version of most politicians that we need to worry about is the one that they don’t want us to see. That’s why campaign reporters dog them; they’re waiting for the veil to slip. But the version of Ron DeSantis that we need to worry about is the one that he proudly shows us. That’s one of the morals of a provocative anti-gay, anti-trans video that the DeSantis campaign shared late last week. But while his viciousness comes through precisely as planned, so does something unintended: an undercurrent of homoerotic kink.

A DeSantis campaign account tweeted a video slamming Trump for his support of Pride. "To wrap up 'Pride Month,' let's hear from the politician who did more than any other Republican to celebrate it," the DeSantis campaign tweeted. Jenner accused DeSantis' campaign of using "horribly divisive tactics!" Representatives of the DeSantis campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment Saturday. At Trump's rally in Pickens, South Carolina, on Saturday, the crowd booed when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., referenced to Pride month.

Gwyneth Paltrow has been popping up in unexpected places this year. She was in court in March, dressed impeccably, and won $1 after being found not at fault for a ski crash. Well, not in the flesh, but her persona was present as a handful of drag queens put on their best performances in honor of Ms. Paltrow, the actress and founder of the lifestyle brand Goop. Scenes from Ms. Paltrow’s oeuvre played on a loop on screens throughout the bar and performance space. Ms. Paltrow was unavailable for comment, she added.

Lessons from the original Industrial Revolution
  + stars: | 2023-06-09 | by ( Edward Chancellor | ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +7 min
These are brilliantly described by Martin Hutchinson, a former Breakingviews columnist, in his new book “Forging Modernity: Why and How Britain Developed the Industrial Revolution”. In fact, several pioneers of the Industrial Revolution were self-taught. The Industrial Revolution can be viewed as the world’s first successful energy transition. The task of financing the Industrial Revolution fell to banks that were scattered across the country, some 800 in all. We are so accustomed to the economic growth sparked by the Industrial Revolution that we tend to view economic expansion as pretty much inevitable.

Bush wore a pair of horsebit loafers to meet then-President Gerald Ford. Through the decadesThe success of Gucci’s horsebit loafers has been far-reaching, and the secret to their ongoing relevance may lie in the shoe’s versatility. The horsebit loafer is Gucci’s answer to the near-philosophical question: What shoes do I wear?

Harvey Pitt, a legal wunderkind who lasted just 18 months as chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission under President George W. Bush, died on Tuesday in Washington. His death, in a hospital, came after a sudden illness, according to his family, which did not specify the ailment. Mr. Pitt’s career had three consecutive legs, any one of which alone might have been the pinnacle on a lesser résumé. He began his career at the S.E.C. After only three years, he left to represent corporate clients for the powerful law firm Fried Frank.

SAN FRANCISCO, June 1 (Reuters) - Hackers have stolen data from the systems of a number of users of the popular file transfer tool MOVEit Transfer, U.S. security researchers said on Thursday, one day after the maker of the software disclosed that a security flaw had been discovered. Software maker Progress Software Corp (PRGS.O), after disclosing the vulnerability on Wednesday, said it could lead to potential unauthorized access into users' systems. The managed file transfer software made by the Burlington, Massachusetts-based company allows organizations to transfer files and data between business partners and customers. Such "zero-day," or previously unknown, vulnerabilities in managed file transfer solutions have led to data theft, leaks, extortion and victim-shaming in the past, Mandiant said. Pitt did not have a comment on who might have been trying to steal data by exploiting the flaw.

[1/3] The 76th Cannes Film Festival - The Palm Dog Awards - Cannes, France, May 26, 2023. Stan, a Border Collie, receives the Palm Dog award on-behalf of the dog named Snoop of the film "Anatomie d'une chute" (Anatomy of a Fall). Messi played Snoop, a role which the jury said required a range of skills and emotions from its doggie actor, making the border collie a worthy winner of the main Palm Dog prize. "It's probably the greatest award ever, so we are truly, truly overwhelmed," said Jussi Vatanen, who stars alongside Alma Poysti in the tragicomedy about a budding romance. The Palm Dog awards have honoured the top dogs on screen since 2001, with categories added this year including Mutt Moment and Highly Commended Canine.
For those who find regular love triangles too pedestrian, quadrangles and pentagons are also available. Unconventional arrangements are the order of the day in a dynamic revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Aspects of Love,” which opened on Thursday at the Lyric Theater in London. (It is a lot raunchier than Lloyd Webber’s most recent work, which invited the audience to “sing unto the Lord with the harp” during the coronation of King Charles III.) This “Aspects of Love” is exquisitely produced and superbly performed, but — like many a real-life libertine — it eventually buckles under the weight of its excesses. Alex, 18, invites Rose to stay with him at a villa owned by George (Michael Ball), his rich uncle, and the two fall in love.
