In NBC News’ early October national survey, just 4% of registered voters said they didn’t want to make a choice between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. One said they plan to vote for Trump, another that they are likely to vote for Harris, and another plans to not vote at all. How anyone could still be undecided a week out from a critical election can be difficult to fathom for supporters of either Trump or Harris. Eric Bush, a systems administrator from Florida, said he’s waiting until he is in the voting booth to make his final choice. But he is still weighing backing Harris, acknowledging a vote for Harris could lead to bigger-government policies that could help others.

Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris campaigned around southwestern states this week as they sought to shore up the Latino vote with only five days until Election Day. Latino voters account for %14.7 of all eligible voters in the upcoming election, according to Pew Research Center. New Mexico, where Trump campaigned on Thursday, has the highest share of Latino voters with around 45% the population. The states with the next largest share of Latino voters include California, Texas, Arizona and Nevada. Although Democrats tend to have a historical advantage among Latino voters, that advantage has declined over the past four presidential cycles, according to a national NBC News/Telemundo/CNBC poll from September, especially as Trump makes strides with Latino men.

The new contribution limit for 401(k)s and other workplace retirement plans in 2025 will be $23,500, up from $23,000 currently, the Internal Revenue Service said Friday. The catch-up contribution limit will remain the same at $7,500. Now for an ounce of reality: Most people do not max out their 401(k) savings, whatever their applicable contribution limit. Higher income thresholds for IRAsThe IRS did not increase the contribution limits for individual retirement accounts, known as IRAs. CNN —Talented though they may be, monkeys will never type out the complete works of William Shakespeare, or even a short book, a new study suggests. The Infinite Monkey Theorem is a famous thought experiment that states that a monkey pressing random keys on a typewriter would eventually reproduce the works of the Bard if given an infinite amount of time and/or if there were an infinite number of monkeys. However, in the study published in the peer-reviewed journal Franklin Open, two mathematicians from Australia’s University of Technology Sydney have rejected this theorem as “misleading” within the confines of our finite universe. They challenged it by looking at the Finite Monkeys Theorem, in which there is a finite amount of time and a finite number of monkeys. “By the time you’re at the scale of a full book, you’re billions of billions of times less likely,” he continued.

With evolving workplace priorities, the Workforce Innovation board also predicted which new roles might emerge in the C-suite, including "chief transformation officer" and "chief experience officer." Then, while there is a "chief AI officer" role that's picking up, there is also a lot of focus on automation. Turning Point Action is one of several outside groups that have taken over the work of canvassing on behalf of Republicans. Some churches and pastors promoted Turning Point events during worship services and in social media posts, NBC News found. Training churches to serve as unofficial Trump campaign surrogates fits into a broader campaign by Turning Point to mobilize evangelicals. President Harris would probably put more pressure on Israel to reach a cease-fire and open up talks with the Palestinians. Ukrainians worry that a President Trump would force a quick and dirty peace deal favorable to Russia. They hope a President Harris would continue to support them on the battlefield. Elon Musk and his political action committee are seeking to move the Philadelphia District Attorney's lawsuit targeting their $1 million swing state voter daily lottery to federal court from a state-level court. It is not clear what will happen at the hearing, given the notice of removal in federal court. As a rule, federal law bars a state court proceeding from taking place if a party in the case has filed a notice of removal to federal court and a copy of that notice is filed with the state court. The notice filed in federal court by lawyers for Musk and his America PAC argue that because that PAC is registered as a federal entity, it is not subject to state law. Krasner's lawsuit, which claims Musk's $1 million giveaway is an illegal, unregulated lottery, was filed in Court of Common Pleas on Monday.

Five people have been charged in Texas, accused of organizing and participating in an illegal cheating scheme that certified more than 200 unqualified teachers and saw the plot’s “kingpin” rake in more than $1 million, prosecutors announced. Investigators noticed a pattern: Numerous teacher certification candidates who previously failed certification exams would drive from faraway Texas cities to the Houston area to take an exam. Then a tip came in that exposed the cheating scheme. He'd pay her about 20% of the $2,500 to allow the cheating, Levine said. “They are going to go over every teacher, I’m sure, and take whatever action they see fit if they believe someone fraudulently obtained a certification,” Levine said.
