CNN —A loud bang, a jolt, and cold air whooshing suddenly through the cabin: these were the immediate signs that something was very wrong aboard Alaska Airlines flight 1282, according to one passenger report. As investigators work to determine exactly what caused the incident, we look at what happens when an aircraft experiences a sudden loss of cabin pressure and the risks for those on board. “As the aircraft climbs, the cabin pressure will eventually settle to about 8,000 feet. The flight crew will immediately start working to get the aircraft down to about 10,000 feet, where the air will be breathable. There will also be a massive wind blast as all that pressure in the cabin goes out the hole.

CNN —Tiger Woods says he’s only prepared to walk away from playing golf when he no longer believes he can be competitive as he insisted that’s currently not the case. “I love competing, I love playing,” Woods told reporters ahead of his highly-anticipated return to competitive golf. While confirming the operation to fuse his ankle earlier this year was successful, Woods said that his recovery took its toll. “Unfortunately I’ve had experience, I’ve gone through it before and I’m here on the good side now.”Woods has not played competitive golf since April, 2023. The move gave the players a one-seat advantage after the controversial merger in June between the PGA Tour and Saudi-backed LIV Golf.

(AP) — A Montana man intends to plead guilty to threatening to kill Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Tester under the terms of a deal filed Monday by federal prosecutors. Anthony James Cross of Billings faces up to 10 years in prison at sentencing if the plea agreement is accepted by the court. Cross, 30, has been jailed since late April, when he was arrested on a state charge for allegedly threatening a neighbor with a pellet gun. The plea deal comes after another Montana man, Kevin Patrick Smith of Kalispell, was sentenced in August to 2 1/2 years in prison for threatening to kill Tester in voicemails left at his office in Kalispell. A third Montana man accused of making threats against a high-ranking Washington official pleaded not guilty in October and is awaiting trial.

CNN —CeCé Telfer calls it the moment her dreams seemed to be shattered as she questioned whether years of “blood, sweat and tears” were in vain. Last week, governing body World Athletics (WA) announced it would be prohibiting athletes who have gone through what it called “male puberty” from participating in female world rankings competitions. One stock that's bucking all macro concerns in 2023, and has been for years, is Taser maker Axon Enterprise . Axon shares are up nearly 30% this year, putting them on track for their eighth consecutive annual gain. While other smaller firms offer these products, Axon has been snatching up market share as it leverages its relationship with law enforcement. The Taser maker has a customer relationship with roughly 17,000 out 18,000 U.S. law enforcement agencies, according to a note this month from Goldman Sachs . The firm also has dedicated sales representatives for 1,200 for the largest agencies, which represent 70% of law enforcement patrol officers.

The show's director called the plane's disappearance "the greatest aviation mystery of all time." Several countries use Leopard tanks, including Canada, the Netherlands and Sweden. “The question is whether 100 tanks of different varieties will be enough to eject Russian forces from Ukraine. The deployment of Leopard tanks was the most significant, he said, because of its conventional diesel-powered engine, as opposed to the Abrams tanks, which are powered by jet fuel.
