Guenther Steiner likened being the team principal of Haas F1 to "being the CEO of a small company." "The good news is no two days are the same," said James Vowles, Williams Racing's team principal. Guenther Steiner, a former team principal of the Haas F1 team who's now an ambassador for the Miami Grand Prix, said the job was sort of like running a corporation. Brown said the top traits he looked for in a team principal were selflessness, a focus on performance, and a willingness to lead by example. "Andrea is a team principal that focuses on his team, putting his people first."

A big piece has been missing from the box office — family films. A handful of kid-friendly hits — Universal's "Super Mario Bros." chief among them — have boosted ticket sales. So far in 2024, the domestic box office is down 23% from last year and trails 40% from 2019. More kid-friendly hits, like the coming "Despicable Me 4," could be one of the keys to a box office rebound. "Family movies come in all shapes and sizes," said Shawn Robbins, founder and owner of Box Office Theory.

CNBC's Jim Cramer told investors it's important to use big rallies to prepare for the down days. In other words, you should raise some cash when your stocks are on a roll. "The next time we get a big up day or two, please, I'm begging you, use the strength to raise some cash," he said. "You might not know it, but without cash, your portfolio has zero flexibility, and the best time to raise cash is when the market is on fire." But this does not mean investors should sell everything during a rally, Cramer said.

The Hunter Biden and Trump cases are vastly different, as is the way the former and current first families have responded to the trials. This is especially significant since Hunter Biden could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted, although a sentence for a first-time offender is unlikely to be that severe. The Hunter Biden trial is the latest cruel twist in the story of a family that has endured more tragedies than most could bear. The infringements on the Biden family’s dignity and privacy cut deep during the trial, which saw discomforting testimony about Hunter Biden’s former cocaine addiction. Media organizations, meanwhile, played an excerpt from Hunter Biden’s audio book that chronicles his spiral into addiction that was used in the prosecution case.

CNN —A critical highway linking Idaho and Wyoming has closed indefinitely after a portion of the road cracked and then collapsed in a “catastrophic landslide” Saturday, officials said. Mark Gordon said in a post on Facebook there is no estimated timeline for reopening Teton Pass, which links Victor, Idaho, and Jackson, Wyoming. The initial crack appeared Thursday morning across both lanes of travel, the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) said in a post on Facebook at the time. “No crews were hurt in the process, and no equipment was damaged.”Cracks in the roadway on Teton Pass are seen on Friday, June 7, 2024, the day before its "catastrophic failure." The Teton Pass corridor “serves as a critical commuter route and facilitates the transport of goods and services that are lifelines to the growing regional economies in Wyoming and Idaho,” according to the US Department of Transportation.

What slumping oil prices mean for our stake in Coterra Energy
  + stars: | 2024-06-04 | by ( Zev Fima | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +6 min
U.S. crude prices fell for the fifth straight day Tuesday, but we remain committed to our lone oil-and-gas stock in Coterra Energy . Elevated oil prices have, as a result, pressured discretionary spending and corporate margins. If we get that, then we should see lower oil prices and sustained buying power along with a healthy environment for business investments. And yet we still see reason to stick with Coterra Energy. Indeed, analysts at Citigroup published a research note Tuesday exploring potential takeover targets for Devon Energy, another ex-Club oil stock.

Exxon filed for arbitration in March to defend the rights it claims under the joint operating agreement. Hess shareholders would bear the risk if the deal terminates because Chevron is not obligated to pay a termination fee, according to ISS. With 5G, organizations now have faster internet speeds, expanded capabilities, and an additional avenue of connectivity. Telecom companies can also provide private 5G networks to businesses, offering them low latency and high bandwidth to transfer large volumes of data securely. For example, NTT, a Japanese telecom company, offers 5G services to consumers and private 5G services to businesses, particularly in the manufacturing and automotive industries. Increasingly, more cellular and Internet of Things devices are being connected to organizations' 5G networks, which means more opportunities for hackers if organizations don't properly manage their security. In the future, more security companies could focus on 5G security for cars, airplanes, medical devices, and more.

Who Was Abdul Raziq?
  + stars: | 2024-05-22 | by ( Matthieu Aikins | Victor J. Blue | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
When I arrived at Raziq’s compound, I saw him sitting cross-legged on a carpeted platform, receiving a long line of guests. Trim and cheerful, clean-shaven and barely 30, he wasn’t much older than I, yet he was leading several thousand men under arms. I reached the front of the line, and Raziq shook my hand to welcome me before turning to the next guest. We would never get the chance to meet again, but that was the beginning of my long quest to understand the paradox he represented. Why was the U.S. military, which was supposed to be supporting democracy and human rights in Afghanistan, working closely with a drug trafficker and murderer?
