CNN —Al Jazeera said its bureau chief in Gaza, Wael Al Dahdouh, lost his wife, son, daughter, and grandson in what it said was an Israeli airstrike on Wednesday. “Members of the family of our colleague Wael Al Dahdouh, including his wife, son, and daughter, were martyred in an Israeli bombing,” Al Jazeera wrote in an on-air message. An emotional Al Dahdouh was seen in a video crying as he stood over his son’s body, wrapped in a white sheet. His son Mahmoud was 15 years old, and his daughter Sham was seven years old, Al Jazeera reported. Al Jazeera anchor Abdisalam Farah announced the deaths on air, visibly struggling to keep his composure and tearing up.

Gaza needs at least 160,000 liters (42,267 gallons) of fuel a day for basic necessities, UNRWA spokesperson Juliette Touma said. Just eight out of 20 aid trucks scheduled to cross into Gaza on Tuesday made the journey, UNRWA said. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Tuesday ruled out any fuel being allowed to enter Gaza, saying Hamas would co-opt fuel for its operational infrastructure and to continue its rocket attacks. In the wake of the assault, Israel launched a sustained aerial bombardment of Gaza that Palestinian health officials say has now killed more than 5,000 people. CNN —Protests erupted around the Arab world on Friday as the Gaza war raged and an Israeli ground operation with the potential to displace millions of Palestinians loomed. In a sign of the growing anger over the Israeli operation in Gaza, Egypt sanctioned its first major nationwide protest in a decade. Amman and Cairo have sounded alarms over what they perceive as a plan to transfer Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank to Egypt and Jordan. The West Bank, however, remains occupied and the previous right-wing government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said it would advance plans to extend its jurisdiction to the West Bank. The Palestinians want to establish an independent state in the West Bank and Gaza.

CNN —The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has suspended all its soccer matches amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militant group, Hamas. The FAF announced on Wednesday the suspensions were a way of showing “solidarity” with Palestinians. The declaration comes just days after the FAF offered to host all of the Palestinian national team’s upcoming international fixtures following the escalation of the decades-old conflict. The FAF said it will be hosting the Palestinian national team’s next home game, a 2026 World Cup qualifier against Australia scheduled for November 21. It comes amid Israel’s ongoing siege of Gaza, which has led to the deaths of over 3,500 Palestinians, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
