New York CNN —The Internal Revenue Service has good news for millions of taxpayers in 17 states who received a one-time special state payment last year to offset inflation and other negative economic impacts: Those payments won’t be subject to federal income tax. Prior to the conclusion of its review of state special payments, the agency had suggested recipients hold off on filing their 2022 returns until it made its determination. The IRS decision regarding the federal taxability of special state payments for residents of other states is a little more nuanced. On your 2021 federal tax return, you either claimed the standard deduction, or you itemized. So the amounts that potentially are subject to federal income tax may not be large.
But is this just a bear market rally or the start of a bull market ? The rally has some way to go, said Trivariate Research analysts, led by founder Adam Parker, in a Feb. 5 note. In light of the volatile market, Niles said investors should continue staying invested in cash — his "favorite investment" for this year.

The difficult outlook for software stocks should continue into 2023, but companies offering growth at a reasonable price stand to gain and come out on top, according to Morgan Stanley. Software stocks suffered a dismal 2022 as rising interest rates brought down stocks with sky high price-to-earnings ratios. China is struggling to censor videos of protests against the country's zero-COVID policy, experts say. The country's censorship apparatus has been overwhelmed by the high volume of protest content. Experts told the Times that the high volume of videos has overwhelmed China's censorship software and teams of human censors. Protesters in Chengdu were seen shouting "Step down, Xi Jinping"and "Opposition to dictatorship," according to videos reviewed by CNN. Some internet users are reportedly evading content censorship by flipping videos on their side, adding filters, and recording videos of videos to confuse the censorship algorithms, reported the Times.

LONDON, Nov 29 (Reuters) - European home improvement retailer Kingfisher (KGF.L) has agreed a five-year partnership with Google Cloud , a move it said should provide customers with faster and more intuitive searches, and better tailor product ranges. The company, which owns DIY brands B&Q and Castorama, and trade-focused Screwfix and TradePoint, increased online sales during the pandemic when stores were closed and customers spent more on home improvements. E-commerce sales were up 138% over three years in its third quarter, it said this month. Kingfisher, a long-time user of SAP software, had started moving its legacy data to Google Cloud, where it could be used to test new online concepts and improve the efficiency of deliveries such as its less-than-one-hour Screwfix 'Sprint' service. Google Cloud Chief Executive Thomas Kurian said its technology was helping customers identify product using image search, or by answering questions posed in imprecise terms.
Third, long-duration stocks that are unprofitable — typically these are growth stocks found in the tech sector — should be avoided, Kostin said. Fourth, Kostin likes stocks that have growing profit margins despite the tightening economic conditions. He shared a list of stocks with the most resilient profit margins over the last few year, and which are expected to grow margins next year. And finally, Kostin recommended avoiding stocks whose profit margin growth in recent years may have been due to a decrease in expenses as opposed to an increase in sales. Rising or normalizing expenses for these companies could chip away at profit margins.

"Advertisers should not send sensitive information about people through our Business Tools," a Meta spokesperson told CNBC in a statement. Our system is designed to filter out potentially sensitive data it is able to detect." It was too early for concrete statements as Volkswagen wants to decide on its revised investment plans in February, the source told Reuters. Volkwagen's supervisory board in March approved 2 billion euros ($2.07 billion) for the new Trinity factory, with construction due to start in spring 2023.

These issues have highlighted an immense need for investment in agriculture and specifically technology to improve the efficiency of the industry. Last year, Deere also purchased Bear Flag Robotics, a Silicon Valley agriculture technology startup that develops autonomous farm equipment, for $250 million. AGCO , an agricultural machinery manufacturer, has also made several investments or acquisitions in the last few years in new technology in the space.
