In 2020, Asian American turnout in Georgia surged by 84% compared with the previous presidential election, playing a larger role than ever in an election that Joe Biden won by a very narrow margin. And much has been made of the local Asian community since then. Many are also newer immigrants, so specific ethnicity — Korean or Vietnamese, for example — is more of an identity than simply being Asian American. “National identity matters a lot more than their pan ethnic or racial identity,” said Karthick Ramakrishnan, founder of AAPI Data, a research group. Many Asian Americans are small-business owners or work in health care or the service industry or for international companies.

I do think that seeing a woman on the ballot will, hopefully, encourage more women to vote, even if they don't vote for Harris. At the time, I thought it was going to be a landslide, like 'We're about to have our first woman president.' I don't think everybody in the U.S. will ever be ready for a woman president, but I don't think everybody in the U.S. was ready for a Black president either. Even if Kamala wins, I don't think everybody in the U.S. is ready for a woman president, just like they weren't ready for a Black president. I think Harris is just bringing a lot of new people into the process who haven't necessarily felt included before.

In a Thursday interview with CNBC's Jim Cramer, Clorox CEO Linda Rendle detailed how her company managed to recover after a cyberattack last year disrupted production and seriously hurt business. Rendle discussed the serious nature of the attack, saying the company was "operating in manual mode for nearly two months" and added that Clorox lost about a third of its distribution and market share. Its cat litter brand, Fresh Step, was hit particularly hard as cat owners who switched brands due to shortages were reluctant to switch back. But Rendle said the cat litter business has been on the rebound, regaining much of its lost market share, but admitted that "we have a lot more work to do in that category." She also expressed gratitude towards retailers who worked with Clorox during that time and added that these partnerships are stronger coming out of the attack.

Mortgage rates will remain above 6% throughout 2025, Goldman Sachs said. In the bank's 2025 Housing Outlook, the analysts forecast mortgage rates will remain elevated, even as the Federal Reserve cuts interest rates. They expect mortgage rates to stay above 6% next year and end 2025 at 6.1%. "Our strategists expect mortgage rates to remain elevated for the foreseeable future," the analysts, led by Jan Hatzius, said in a Monday note.
