The executive director of an independent Ohio clinic shares her plans for keeping the business open. At the same time, abortion clinics are navigating the new normal. While abortion access is temporarily restored in Ohio, limited timelines mean the viability to run an independent clinic is shrinking. Sri Thakkilapati, the interim executive director at the Cleveland independent abortion clinic Preterm, is trying to balance the two realities. It's always been our mission to destigmatize abortion and support patients through whatever reproductive-health decisions they make.
“I was just so thirsty to get a BBL,” Velasco said. 7Q Spa also has positive reviews on Yelp and Google, where it averages a 4.5 star rating. The front door of 7Q Spa is side-by-side with Vitality Medical Center, which, according to California business registration documents, has the same CEO as 7Q Spa. After the surgery, Velasco said she felt great and, at first, she couldn’t feel her stitches at all. The California Medical Board revoked her license as part of the settlement, but stayed the revocation and granted her a 35-month probation.
The Health Resources and Services Administration, which aims to improve health care for underserved people, offers many of these grants. But the use of methadone for addiction treatment is tightly regulated, due to concerns that it can be abused. Federal regulators approved Suboxone in 2002, opening an avenue for addiction treatment in towns without methadone clinics. Or a patient’s primary doctor could take over the buprenorphine treatment after an addiction treatment specialist stabilizes a patient. Storjohann said some health care professionals believe addiction treatment would lead to frustration, because patients can repeatedly relapse.
Throughout the town’s setbacks, generations of locals have taken their first and last breaths at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. On Nov. 4, talks with a larger hospital in Jackson that local officials had hoped would take over Greenwood Leflore fell through. Leflore County Supervisor Board President Robert Collins said finances are already strained, but the county can most likely put up about $3.5 million for Greenwood Leflore. Dr. Roderick Givens, who treats cancer patients at the Greenwood Leflore Hospital, is working with other local leaders to keep the facility open. But while the peak of the pandemic appears to be in the rearview, the healthcare industry has continued to be governed by political forces. This year, healthcare focused on transgender people and abortion rights has come under attack. Other healthcare professionals are using federal power to prevent the spread of infectious diseases other than COVID-19. Social stigma from the monkeypox outbreaks has mildly echoed the intense social and political stigma of HIV, which Daskalakis has focused on for the majority of his career.
Maven, the women and family health startup, has raised $90 million in a new fundraising round, and in a tough environment for venture funding. Maven reached unicorn status last August in a $110 million round right before the bottom dropped out of the tech sector. Maven has benefitted from greater focus on women's health, particularly since the Supreme Court overturned Roe V. Wade. Global family benefits growth and Medicaid are two areas that Maven is prioritizing with the new funding. Both have highlighted policies that limit health care access in Georgia, such as its new six-week abortion ban and a decision by Republican Gov. Georgians have witnessed health services dwindle before and during the pandemic, straining the state’s medical system even as regional health care costs rise. Nearly half of Georgia’s 159 counties have no OB-GYN, according to the Georgia Board of Health Care Workforce. Some see the shutdowns as exacerbating racial disparities in health care access in Atlanta, where a 2018 Trulia analysis found 25.3 health care providers per 10,000 residents in the city’s majority-white census tracts, compared with 9.8 in majority-Black tracts. “I’m looking at somebody that is going to be for the community,” she says, “that’s going to help us with the health care — bring it closer to us.”
Proponents say that the law is necessary to preserve infant life after birth. Opponents say the measure is misleading and infringes on the right of providers to make medical decisions. Ballot measure detailsThe state of Montana is set to vote on a controversial amendment that would establish any infant born alive, including infants born alive as a result of abortion, must have its life preserved by medical staff. The proposed law would also require medical staff to provide care to keep the infant alive and report the born-alive infant. They also argue that the law will put an unnecessary burden on healthcare providers who try to make the best decisions for their patients.
He also pointed to impending risks to Social Security based on plans floated by certain Republican lawmakers, namely Sens. What's more, it would mean letting two of the most important laws that established Social Security and Medicare expire, he said. It is unclear what his opponent Kean's stance is on Social Security and Medicare. While that's in keeping with years past, the difference this year is Social Security has been more of a front-burner issue. "Usually, it's a lot of lip service to Social Security and how they think it's a great program."
House Oversight Committee Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., will introduce a bill Friday aimed at improving access to abortion services, as well as accurate information on the procedure, in the wake of the Supreme Court’s ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, NBC News has learned. The Abortion Care Awareness Act of 2022 is the latest effort by Democrats to address the fallout from the Supreme Court’s decision to end the constitutional right to an abortion, which has since spurred multiple states to limit or outright ban the procedure. The bill would direct HHS to set up a national campaign to promote resources on where and how to obtain abortion care, medication abortion, and a patient’s right to travel across state lines to get the procedure. John Nacion / STAR MAX/IPx via AP fileA large coalition of reproductive health groups — including the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, and more — will endorse Maloney’s bill. Karen Stone, Planned Parenthood Federation of America vice president of public policy and government relations, echoed the need to expand access to educational resources on reproductive health care.

CNN —It has been well-known in research that Black babies are about twice as likely to die as White babies before their first birthday. But when conceived by assisted reproductive technology, neonatal mortality was more than four-fold higher among babies of Black women. Those rates were four-fold higher in infants of Black versus White mothers who used assisted reproductive technology, such as IVF. Black women are about three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than White women, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Walmart employees across the US will soon have access to dozens of fertility clinics. Fertility benefits are becoming a weapon in the war for talent, Fortune recently reported. In a Fortune poll, 45% of workers said fertility benefits are an important component when considering a new job. A fertility survey conducted by Carrot, a global fertility healthcare company, found that millennial and Generation Z employees value fertility benefits: 77% of respondents said that they would stay at a company if it offered fertility benefits, and a large majority of them said they would even consider changing jobs for better benefits. Mercer also has found that DEI values are a key motivation in expanding fertility benefits.

Neither Leigh nor Younge, who were both at the university during Brown’s time there, reported having negative interactions with Brown, they said. “We acknowledge the fact that our experiences are unique to ourselves and not everybody shares those same experiences,” Younge added. In response to the letter on Brown's behalf, Brown’s attorney, Artur Davis, said: “While we respect the experiences of these individuals two things come to mind.
Graham's bill has virtually no chance of passing the current Congress, where Democrats hold slim majorities in the House and Senate. Some Republicans, including GOP candidates in pivotal Senate races, have backed Graham's new proposal. But other top Republicans either refused to back Graham's bill or expressed a belief that individual states should set their own abortion laws. "With regard to abortion, Democrats are clearly focused on abortion," he added. As Graham's bill brought a renewed focus to the issue, Democrats pounced.
In some of these states, whether abortion is legal has changed from week to week. The state’s trigger ban has been blocked and reinstated three times in the course of six weeks. On July 14, a federal judge lifted an injunction on Kentucky’s 15-week abortion ban, allowing it to take effect. On July 14, a federal judge lifted an injunction on Kentucky’s 15-week abortion ban, allowing it to take effect. But even though abortion remained legal in those states, providers said that patients and medical professionals did not always know what was going on.
In cursive script, another vowed: “This is not the end.”Wednesday was the last day the Jackson Women’s Health Organization was legally allowed to perform abortions in Mississippi. Mississippi’s trigger law gave the Jackson Women’s Health Organization a 10-day window to continue operations after state Attorney General Lynn Fitch certified the Supreme Court’s ruling. Diane Derzis, owner of the Jackson Women's Health Organization, at a news conference on June 24. A retired gynecologist debunked common mistruths spread about the procedure by abortion opponents. While abortion has been a top issue among voters, McNabb said there is still a wealth of misinformation about the procedure. "Abortion does not cause breast cancer," McNabb said, noting that abortion opponents often base that argument on discredited studies. Another common claim is that medical abortions, which utilize Mifepristone and Misoprostol pills, are not safe for women. "The risk of abortions go up from first trimester up to the limit of when someone would perform an abortion," McNabb said.
