Elon Musk suggested that Dr. Anthony Fauci should be prosecuted in a tweet posted on Sunday. The tweet is the latest in a series of posts supporting right-wing efforts and conspiracies in recent months. "My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci," Musk wrote on Sunday in a now-viral tweet that has generated significant backlash. The tweet is the latest of several recent quips from Musk empowering right-wing viewpoints and conspiracies. "I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare," Musk wrote at the time.
Elon Musk has been weighing in more and more on political issues since buying Twitter. "Any argument that he's trying to empower the center is patently bullshit," a researcher on extremism told Insider. "In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party," Musk wrote in a tweet this May. "Any argument that he's trying to empower the center is patently bullshit and should be treated as such." "The way that Twitter's content moderation has changed since he's taken over has definitely skewed towards favoring the far-right," Berger said.

Rafael Rondon pleaded guilty to charges connected to the Capitol riot on Monday. Rondon admitted to helping an "unknown male" steal a laptop from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office. The 25-year-old traveled to the Capitol with his mother, who also faces charges. According to court documents, Rondon and his mother, Maryann Mooney-Rondon, traveled to Washington, DC, on January 6, 2021 to attend the "Stop the Steal" rally. Rondon's mother has pleaded not guilty to the charges against her and last month filed documents to get one of the charges dismissed.
Time has largely run out in this Congress to ban lawmakers from trading stocks. On Monday, he told Insider in a statement that he would "keep pushing to get this debated on the floor and get it passed." Democratic senators formed a working group, with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's blessing, to draft legislation to ban stock trading among lawmakers. In the Senate, Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts told Insider that it was "not yet" time to declare the effort dead, pointing to ongoing discussions. "I support a stock ban for members of Congress," he told reporters in September.
Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, attended the Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday in what appeared to be his first public appearance in the weeks since he was attacked at his home in October. Paul Pelosi and President Joe Biden could be seen greeting each other as they sat down several seats apart at the 45th annual honors event at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington. DePape told investigators that the House speaker was on a “target list” he had put together as part of a bid to “fight tyranny." He said he regarded Nancy Pelosi as the “leader of the pack” of lies told by the Democratic Party, the indictment said. Actor George Clooney, composer Tania León, singers Gladys Knight and Amy Grant, were among those to be celebrated at Sunday's Kennedy Center Honors, along with the members of U2.
Serving in Congress may require living in a fortress as threats of violence against members surge. A letter from Sen. Mike Crapo's lawyers reveals the US Capitol Police recommended multiple security upgrades for his homes. Threats are causing members to consider additional security for themselves and their families, the lawyers wrote. Crapo's lawyers wrote to the FEC because they want to know how to best pay for all of these updates on two homes. Crapo's lawyers wrote, however, that the threat environment since then "has actually worsened."
Outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reported her husband recently sold between $1 million and $5 million worth of stock in Visa. She reported that her husband, Paul Pelosi, made the trade on November 8. He bludgeoned Paul Pelosi with a hammer and said he wanted to break the kneecaps of Nancy Pelosi, who was not present at the time. Following the attack on October 28, Paul Pelosi underwent surgery and continues to recover from his injuries. But it was trending upward when Paul Pelosi sold what Nancy Pelosi, in a congressional filing, affirmed was 20,000 shares.

"Twitter is a great company, and Elon Musk is an extraordinary executive. Everyone exited was offered 3 months of severance, which is 50% more than legally required," Musk tweeted on Nov. 4. Gorman says he's unbothered by Musk's social media presence.
Former Twitter executive Yoel Roth said Musk's wealth might stop him from seeing the "consequences" of his tweets. Since taking over Twitter, Musk has sent several tweets containing inaccurate information. Yoel Roth, who was Twitter's former head of trust & safety until earlier this month, spoke at the Knight Foundation's "Informed" conference on Tuesday about Musk's use of the platform. "That's the core of what the work of trust and safety is. "I think it may be hard to understand the consequences that his tweets can have for the people he targets," Roth said.
China's military has been increasingly practicing seizing islands, the Pentagon says. The US has accused China of engaging in aggressive behavior around Taiwan and in the South China Sea. As an extensive assessment of China's military might, the report outlines the threat that China poses to the self-ruled democratic island of Taiwan. In addition to Beijing's longstanding focus on Taiwan, China also holds competing claims to islands and reefs in the South China Sea, where China has been building military outposts and strengthening its position. Earlier this month, Vice President Kamala Harris made a rare trip to a South China Sea hotspot, specifically the Philippine island of Palawan, which overlooks contested areas in the strategic waterway.
Williams was found guilty on six counts, but the jury deadlocked on two others, including whether she aided and abetted the theft of a laptop in the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. She also pushed up against cops and tried to organize other rioters inside the Capitol rotunda. But they deadlocked on obstruction of an official proceeding — a charge which would have carried the lengthiest potential sentence — and the charge of aiding and abetting the theft of Pelosi's laptop. Williams, who showed little emotion when the jury returned its verdict, was clearly upset by Jackson's decision to lock her up. About 900 people have been arrested in connection with the U.S. Capitol attack, with hundreds more arrests in the works.
A judge ordered Riley Williams detained ahead of her sentencing in February on January 6 charges. The jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict on a charge Williams helped steal a laptop from Pelosi. In previous jury trials, Capitol rioters have been found guilty on all charges they faced, including obstruction of an official proceeding. Williams "led an army" to Pelosi's office suite, prosecutors said, where she encouraged fellow rioters to steal a laptop the speaker used for Zoom meetings. The trial featured images of rioters ransacking Pelosi's office, with some suggesting that they steal a pair of pink boxing gloves that the House speaker kept on a table.

REUTERS/Caroline ChiaBEIJING, Nov 20 (Reuters) - China said on Sunday it is open to a meeting with the U.S. defence secretary on the sidelines of a regional security forum in Cambodia this week, in a sign of thawing relations after the countries' top leaders met earlier this month. China Defence Minister Wei Fenghe and U.S. Secretary of Defense Austin Lloyd previously confirmed separately that they would attend the forum with Southeast Asian countries, the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus. On Sunday, China's defence ministry issued a statement featuring a question about whether the two would meet, with spokesman Tan Kefei quoted as saying, "China holds a proactive and open attitude for exchange with the United States." A meeting would represent the first high-level military exchange between the countries since China halted regular dialogue between military commanders in August in retaliation for U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan.

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York has officially announced his bid to become House Democratic leader. Pelosi announced Thursday that she will not seek re-election to a leadership role but will stay in Congress. He has served as the leader of the House Democratic Caucus since 2019 and has long been seen as an heir to Pelosi. If selected to lead his party, Jeffries, who is 52, would create a massive generational shift in the House's democratic leadership. "The time has come for a new generation to lead our magnificent House Democratic Caucus," said Pelosi.
WASHINGTON — A video filmed by a man charged in connection with the Jan. 6 attack shows rioters inside House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office during the insurrection. It was released to the media following a request by NBC News. In the video, rioters can be heard chanting, “Naaaancy, Naaaancy, Naaaancy" as they enter the speaker's suite, where staffers were huddled in a conference room, barricading themselves from the mob. The laptop was already gone by the time Lyons entered the conference room, the video shows. About 900 defendants have been charged in connection with the Capitol attack and more than 440 have pleaded guilty to various charges.

Jeffries, 52, would be the first Black House Democratic leader, representing both the party's diverse voter base and bringing a new generation of leadership. House Democrats are scheduled to vote on their leaders on Nov. 30. Jeffries, who has held the leadership post of House Democratic Caucus chairman since 2019, also would represent a stylistic contrast to Pelosi, who made her announcement on Thursday. Current House Democratic Leader Steny Hoyer, 83, said he would not seek a leadership position in the next Congress and backed Jeffries. Clyburn told reporters ahead of Pelosi's announcement that he intends to remain in the House Democratic leadership regardless of the path she takes.

Her announcement set into motion a massive overhaul for the top 3 House Democrats, ushering in a new generation of party leadership.
WASHINGTON — A far-right extremist charged with aiding and abetting the theft of a laptop from Nancy Pelosi's office during the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, "led an army" towards the House Speaker's suite, prosecutors told jurors during closing arguments on Wednesday. Video features her encouraging rioters to take a laptop inside Pelosi's office, and urging the mob to push up against officers inside the Capitol rotunda. Williams, both prosecutors and the defense agreed, was obsessed with Nick Fuentes and his group the "Groypers," a far-right, white nationalist movement. To prosecutors, Williams was a leader who directed the mob. Williams was "surprised to be where she was" in Pelosi's office, Ulrich said.
