The automakers said internal brake fluid leaks can cause an electrical short that could lead to a fire. Kia said the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) in the vehicles may experience an electrical short as a result of brake fluid leaks. Hyundai said the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module may leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short. The September recall covered 1.73 million Kia Borrego, Cadenza, Forte, Sportage, K900, Optima, Soul Rio, Sorento and Rondo vehicles from various model years for each vehicle from 2010 through 2017.

A Facebook post (archived) sharing the claim reads, “Actually the first man on the moon was Neil Armstrong’s cameraman.”However, the image being shared actually shows Aldrin and was taken by Armstrong. A description of a similar NASA photo says the moment shows Aldrin descending the ladder to the moon’s surface while Armstrong photographed him on July 20, 1969. Astronaut Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon and his descent was captured by a mounted camera. A picture on social media shows Buzz Aldrin, the second man to land on the moon, not Armstrong.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ken Mattingly, an astronaut who is best remembered for his efforts on the ground that helped bring the damaged Apollo 13 spacecraft safely back to Earth, has died, NASA announced. However, The New York Times reported that Mattingly died in Arlington, Virginia. He helped with development of the spacesuit and backpack for the Apollo moon missions, NASA said. In 1970, Mattingly was supposed to have joined the crew of Apollo 13, piloting the command module. Apollo 13's story was told in the 1994 book “Lost Moon: The Perilous Voyage of Apollo 13,” co-authored by Lovell, and in the 1995 movie “Apollo 13,” where Gary Sinise played Mattingly.

(AP) — Ontario-based Canadian Solar Inc. will build an $800 million solar panel factory in southeastern Indiana that will employ about 1,200 workers once production is fully ramped up, the company said Monday. Canadian Solar said it will build the new photovoltaic cell factory at the River Ridge Commerce Center in Jeffersonville, an Ohio River city located just north of Louisville, Kentucky. The finished solar cells will be shipped to Canadian Solar's module assembly facility in Mesquite, Texas. “Establishing this factory is a key milestone that will enable us to better serve our U.S. customers with the most advanced technology in the industry,” said Dr. Shawn Qu, founder and CEO of Canadian Solar. Investors should consider taking a look at First Solar , according to Barclays. Analyst Christine Cho upgraded the solar panel maker to overweight from an equal weight rating, saying in a Thursday note that the stock's valuation offers an attractive opportunity for investors. Cho added that shares trade at a significant discount to competitors when looking at 2025 price to earnings. First Solar shares have slumped 6% this month and sit just about 1% higher for the year. According to Cho, investors are penalizing First Solar for a handful of "overblown" risks.

CNN —The Russian space agency, Roscosmos, is searching for answers after one of its modules on the International Space Station sprang a coolant leak, adding to the list of mechanical issues the space agency has grappled with in low-Earth orbit over the past year. Roscosmos said Monday in a notice posted to the messaging site Telegram that the coolant leak affected a radiator circuit on the Nauka module, which is located on the Russian-controlled segment of the ISS. The Nauka module was added to the space station in July 2021, but the leak occurred on an external, backup radiator that was delivered to the ISS on a space shuttle mission in 2010, according to NASA. ‘External influences’ and space troubleThe Russian space agency has already spent nearly a year working to get its crew transportation missions back on track after one of its Soyuz spacecraft experienced a noteworthy coolant leak in late 2022 while it was attached to the space station. Roscosmos determined that the coolant leak on the Soyuz spacecraft had rendered the vehicle unsafe and decided to launch a replacement capsule to bring the crew home.

The operational lifetime of the Chinese space station will be more than 15 years, the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), a unit of China’s main space contractor, said at the 74th International Astronautical Congress in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Wednesday. At 180 metric tons after its expansion to six modules, Tiangong is still just 40% of the mass of the ISS, which can hold a crew of seven astronauts. Russia, a participant in the ISS, has similar space diplomacy plans, suggesting that Moscow’s partners in the BRICS group – Brazil, India, China and South Africa – could construct a module for its space station. Roscosmos, the Russian space agency, said last year it was planning to build a space station comprising six modules that could accommodate up to four cosmonauts.
