Tokyo CNN —Ginzan Onsen, a popular Japanese hot spring town known for its scenic snowy views, has begun limiting entry to day trippers during winter peak season, becoming another destination to tackle overtourism amid the country’s record influx of travelers. But its popularity has also caused problems for residents in the otherwise tranquil town, with reports of altercations over photo spots and parking places. Starting January 7, those wanting to enter the onsen town after 5pm will be required to purchase a ticket, according to Ginzan Onsen Information Center. Hiroyuki Ishii, from the Ginzan Onsen Overtourism Measures Project Office, told CNN daytrippers who drove often got stuck in snow-covered roads, causing traffic congestion and blocking ambulance access. Ginzan Onsen is joining a raft of popular tourist destinations to regulate visits as Japan receives a record tourism boom in recent months.

MOSCOW — Russian authorities on Thursday closed all four of Moscow's airports, plus a fifth one in a city about 100 miles southwest of the country's capital, citing unspecified safety concerns. All four Moscow airports reopened after being briefly closed with the fifth airport, in Kaluga, around 100 miles from Moscow reopening later on Thursday afternoon. Sirens were also reported in the Russian city of Taganrog, located in Rostov, which borders Ukraine, according to Tangaron authorities in a post to Telegram. A third Ukrainian missile was shot down in Kursk shortly after Moscow's airports reopened, officials said. I love Facebook Marketplace, except for this one problem with how it does geographic searches. I often see search results that are inconveniently located because they're across a body of water. I probably spend more time browsing Facebook Marketplace than I spend on lots of other interesting and popular things. Facebook Marketplace shows me listings for items located across a body of water — even if the items are within my specified distance radius. Facebook Marketplace will then create a perfect circle of that search radius, giving you as-the-crow-flies distance in every direction.

A passenger plane carrying 67 people crashed in Kazakhstan on Wednesday morning after colliding with birds while traveling from Azerbaijan to Russia, authorities said.
