The Summary BrucePac, a producer of precooked meat and poultry, has recalled nearly 10 million pounds of ready-to-eat food items because of a listeria risk. A recall of nearly 10 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and chicken products affects items sold at major stores nationwide, including Trader Joe’s, Wegmans, 7-Eleven and Kroger. The list of recalled items consists primarily of premade salads, burritos and wraps containing chicken, sometimes alongside other meats, like bacon or ham. In July, Boar’s Head recalled more than 7 million pounds of deli meat over listeria concerns. An earlier recall of cheese products from dairy maker Rizo Lopez was linked to two listeria deaths and more than 20 hospitalizations.

A gathering in North Carolina last year resulted in 10 probable cases of a parasitic infection from undercooked bear meat, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Of the 34 people surveyed who attended the gathering, 65 percent reported eating bear meat. On November 29, 2023, the North Carolina Division of Public Health was alerted to a suspected case of trichinellosis in western North Carolina, according to the CDC. Trichinellosis caused by eating undercooked bear meat, although rare, is not unheard of in the U.S.An outbreak occurred in July 2022 during a nine-person family reunion in South Dakota after people ate kebabs made of bear meat. Most were linked to bear meat.

Before the week-long holiday, authorities unveiled a flurry of stimulus policies, including interest rate cuts, lower cash reserve requirements at banks, looser property purchase rules and liquidity support for stock markets. Chinese major indexes have surged over 25% as investors cheer on the barrage of stimulus measures. Last week, China's CSI 300 blue-chip index extended a nine-day winning streak, surging over 8% Monday, before the market closed for a week-long holiday. Now the government needs to add fiscal stimulus to maintain the rally's momentum, said Shaun Rein, founder and managing director of China Market Research Group.
