So-called Magnificent Seven stocks Apple , Alphabet and Tesla may no longer be living up to that title, according to Wolfe Research. "It's really more like the Mag 4 or Fab 4 these days," Wolfe Research managing director Rob Ginsberg wrote Monday. " The meteoric rise of the "Magnificent Seven" stocks — Apple, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta Platforms, Microsoft, Nvidia and Tesla — lifted the S & P 500 to a 24.2% gain in 2023. But Ginsberg said Apple, Alphabet and Tesla are ripe for exclusion from the Magnificent Seven. AAPL YTD mountain Apple shares in 2024 Apple shares have slipped roughly 10% from their December 2023 high, Ginsberg said, and they are off by about 6% in 2024.

The World(MSCI All Country World Index weighting)Entire U.S. stock market: 63%Japan, UK, Canada, France, Hong Kong/China combined: 17.5%Magnificent 7: 17%Source: Dimensional FundsThat seems crazy, no? For example, in the mid-1960s the concentration of the top 10 was over 40% of the S&P 500. Investors who own the S&P 500 don't have to pick those winners; they just go along for the ride. Second, U.S. stocks are global market leaders, and when a small group becomes market leaders it almost always means the U.S. stock market outperforms the world. The U.S. stock market, which was roughly 40% of the global market capitalization a short while ago, is now roughly 50% of global market capitalization.

When my iPhone suddenly stopped working 12 months ago, my immediate reaction surprised me. Like, according to PC Mag 67% of millennials, I’ve tried and failed to spend less time on my phone. I’ve downloaded all of the productivity apps, tried making rules and systems, and read books about breaking bad habits — to no avail. WhatsApp only works if you have a smartphone, so friends and family who don’t use Facebook Messenger are nearly uncontactable. I’ve become quite accustomed to not even having my phone on or taking it with me everywhere I go.

Michael M. Santiago | Getty ImagesThe so-called "Magnificent 7" now wields greater financial might than almost every other major country in the world, according to new Deutsche Bank research. The meteoric rise in the profits and market capitalizations of the Magnificent 7 U.S. tech behemoths — Apple , Amazon , Alphabet , Meta , Microsoft , Nvidia and Tesla — outstrip those of all listed companies in almost every G20 country, the bank said in a research note Tuesday. Of the non-U.S. G20 countries, only China and Japan (and the latter, only just) have greater profits when their listed companies are combined. Deutsche Bank analysts highlighted that the Magnificent 7's combined market cap alone would make it the second-largest country stock exchange in the world, double that of Japan in fourth. However, this level of concentration has led some analysts to voice concerns over related risks in the U.S. and global stock market.

BOSTON (AP) — With back-to-back Super Bowl victories for the hometown Chiefs, Kansas City football fans gathered for another championship parade and a second celebratory pep rally in a row. Not because the Chiefs, with star quarterback Patrick Mahomes still just 28 years old, can’t win another NFL title. “They have to think twice about having these parades,” said former Boston Police Commissioner Bill Evans, who in 38 years with the department worked 12 championship parades and the aftermath of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. The event included a parade down Grand Boulevard, followed by a rally in front of Union Station. But that's a difficult proposition for large, open venues like where the Kansas City rally was held, or the 26.2-mile Boston Marathon course.

Only 10% (or about 50) of the S & P 500's holdings advanced on Tuesday's market-wide sell-off, which is an extremely low amount. Being up on a very big down session isn't the only thing that the stocks have in common. In fact, they are two of just 10 S & P 500 holdings currently trading over the $1L mark. Primed to outperform the market again All that said, AZO and ORLY have not outperformed the S & P 500 over the last two years. Inflation was certainly severe and very troubling for markets, but ultimately its sources were transitory, Wieting said. As other energy-based companies and commodities grapple with a transition to clean energy, copper is expected to reap the benefits. The transition to clean energy and the move toward electric vehicles means demand for copper will triple by 2030, according to Citi Global Wealth's 2024 outlook. He believes the Magnificent Seven will be a strong part of the economy going into 2024 once again. Therefore, investors should look for opportunities in mid-cap growth or those within the S&P 400, the benchmark for the US mid-cap stocks.

Given that most of the "Magnificent Seven" has surpassed consensus expectations, Goldman Sachs said the group of big technology companies could once again exceed the broader market's gains this year. So far, six of the Magnificent Seven — all but blockbuster chipmaker Nvidia — have reported fourth-quarter results. Each of the companies, with the exception of electric vehicle maker Tesla , exceeded consensus sales forecasts, and collectively posted 14% year-over-year quarterly sales growth, Kostin noted. Analysts also expect the Magnificent Seven to outperform in margin expansion over the next three years, compared with the rest of the market, he added. Shares of the Magnificent Seven raced ahead of the broader market last year.

Meta's strong earnings has been a major factor in pushing up overall S & P 500 earnings estimates. The S & P 500 is up 4% for the year, but the equal-weight S & P 500 is up only 0.2%. Only about half the stocks in the S & P 500 are up this year. The two main small-cap indices, the Russell 2000 and the S & P SmallCap 600 , are both down 3% for the year. "If the S & P 500 was the Mag 7, it would be trading above 10k now."

An instructor at Dingle campus of Connecticut-based Sacred Heart University, he's mapping the sites of wedge tombs . "These types of structures are burial places," Mag Fhloinn said, generally dating to around 2,500 to 2,000 BCE. During his searches of the hill, Mag Fhloinn took photographs to create a 3D model. Rotating the 3D model on his screen, Mag Fhloinn saw how well it corresponded with the 1838 drawing. Most wedge tombs face west, particularly to the southwest, Mag Fhloinn said.
