Why should people start to think about healthy aging early? One can affect the other, but it’s really kind of the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. But home-cooked meals — cooking your own fresh fruit and vegetables, thinking about having these types of meals — is really, really important and nutritious. Batsis: Healthy aging can occur at any stage of life. The definition of what constitutes healthy aging may differ, and it’s really about asking what does it mean to you?

Comfort and connectionIn addition to all the messages about what people should look like, the physical sensations of summer often bring increased attention to people’s bodies, Campos said. For a better relationship with your body this summer, Campos recommends finding ways to connect with yourself in more enjoyable ways. “That is a connected moment where I can say, ‘This feels good in my body,’” Campos said. “When somebody’s having a hard body image day … I want them to check in about what else is going on,” she said. “You might feel better, but it doesn’t actually change anything in your body.

CNN —The care that comes after a cardiac arrest should include supporting mental health — especially for women, new research has found. The team compared the data on patients’ socioeconomic status and mental health with those in the general population, according to the study. The amount of women taking anxiety or depression medications after cardiac arrest was also greater than in women in the general population, said Smits, a postdoctoral researcher at Amsterdam University Medical Center in the Netherlands. “Mental health and stress make cardiac events worse and more frequent, and we know that cardiac events make mental health worse,” he said. Brands have turned away from relying solely on Meta and are using many different platforms to acquire new customers, including relatively new channels like TikTok. Measured's data shows that Snap is the cheapest channel for brands to acquire customers. On TikTok, it costs brands $139.58 to acquire a customer, while Meta nets out to $83.16. Forty-seven percent of advertisers bought TikTok ads, and 5% of brands invested in Reddit ads to find customers. AdvertisementWhile Meta, Pinterest, and TikTok get more of Measured's clients to spend, the data suggests that Snap could be an overlooked channel for brands, as it has low acquisition costs.

In a deal that shows just how hard things are getting in the luxury retail space, Saks Fifth Avenue's parent is purchasing rival department store company Neiman Marcus for $2.65 billion, The Wall Street Journal reported. Amazon — which has long tried to boost its luxury offerings as part of its "everything store" concept — and Salesforce are getting in on it, too, with both taking minority stakes in the new company, Saks Global. As e-commerce and the power of luxury conglomerates like LVMH and Kering have grown, department stores are facing diminishing returns. If not, rather than schlep back to the department store, why not go straight to the source, the Loewe boutique? It also makes the new company's leader — Marc Metrick, who runs Saks' e-commerce business — a natural choice.

ARFID: the eating disorder you haven’t heard of

Now 8 years old, Hannah is being treated for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, or ARFID. Unlike eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia nervosa, this diagnosis isn’t concerned with body shape or size, said Kate Dansie, clinical director of the Eating Disorder Center in Rockville, Maryland. Instead, people with ARFID are very limited in the foods they feel safe and comfortable eating, Dansie said. While an estimated 9% of the US population will have an eating disorder at some point, studies suggest that somewhere between 0.5% and 5% of the population has ARFID, according to the National Eating Disorders Association. One way to spot the difference is the level of impairment and anxiety that comes with facing a new food, Murray said.

Differences like these lead researchers like me to wonder what factors influence the telling of lies. Figuring out the frequency of liesMost research on lying asks participants to self-report their lying behavior, say during the past day or week. This result became the benchmark finding in the field of honesty research and helped lead to an assumption among many researchers that lying is commonplace. It could be that each person in the group tells one or two lies per day. Many lies occur in the heat of the moment, so it makes sense that when there’s a delay in communication, as with email, lying would decrease.

Food hoarding can vary depending on the access the person has to buying food, Daigle said. It is interesting to talk about food hoarding after the lockdowns of the Covid-19 pandemic, because food hoarding served a purpose in that time, Daigle said. Some people engaging in food hoarding behaviors may isolate out of shame or feel more comfortable being around food versus being out in public. Some eating disorders have food hoarding as part of their behaviors, and the same experience may drive people to cope with both hoarding and eating disorder behaviors, she said. But shortages of other things children need may also lead to food hoarding, Daigle said.

In this study, however, we found a clear genetic trigger for obesity,” said lead study author Dr. Mattia Frontini, British Heart Foundation senior fellow and an associate professor in cellular biology at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, in an email. Researchers used data from the UK Biobank, a large biomedical database and research resource that follows people long term, according to the study published Thursday in the journal Med. Women with the gene mutation weighed an extra 4.6 kilograms (10.14 pounds), and men with the variant weighed an extra 2.4 kilograms (5.29 pounds), according to the study. Research into genetic factors and potential treatments is still underway, but Scherer said the current best approach to medical treatment of obesity is GLP-1 medications.
