Uber riders in those cities can be matched with a driverless Waymo car for some trips, according to the companies. A Waymo spokesperson said it had no plans to partner with Uber in San Francisco and Los Angeles. The expansion into Austin and Atlanta won't include Uber Eats at first, according to the Waymo spokesperson, but they're exploring that possibility for the future. Some analysts were more hopeful for a potential Uber and Waymo expansion into San Francisco.

NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. jumped Friday after former President Donald Trump said he won't sell shares of the social media company. Trump owns nearly 115 million shares of the company, according to a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The former president can start selling shares of Trump Media, the parent company of Truth Social, starting on Sept. 19 when a lockup provision ends, if he chooses to do so. Trump created Truth Social after he was banned from Twitter and Facebook following the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. Washington CNN —Mortgage rates fell this week to the lowest point since February 2023, in a welcome sign for Americans grappling with a tough housing market. The standard, 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.20% in the week ended September 12, mortgage financing giant Freddie Mac said Thursday. Mortgage rates started to drop early last month on news affirming lower interest rates in the future, specifically after a weaker-than-expected jobs report for July, and have gradually edged lower since. “Mortgage rates have fallen more than half a percent over the last six weeks and are at their lowest level since February 2023,” Sam Khater, Freddie Mac’s chief economist, said in a release. CNN —A Manhattan grand jury has indicted Harvey Weinstein on new sex crime charges, according to his attorney Arthur Aidala. “The grand jury has indicted Mr. Weinstein,” prosecutor Nicole Blumberg said during a court hearing on Thursday. It could include sexual assault allegations from three women, prosecutors said at a separate hearing last week. One alleged assault occurred at a residential building in lower Manhattan in the winter months between 2005 and 2006. A source with knowledge of the matter told CNN that alleged assault is said to have occurred during in 2006.

CNN —American Lael Wilcox has broken the world record for the fastest woman to cycle around the world, traversing 21 countries and 18,125 miles in three and a half months. “I had so much fun — felt like I could’ve just kept riding forever,” said Wilcox on Instagram following the conclusion of her journey. The 38-year-old Alaskan is an experienced ultra-endurance cyclist, having become the first woman and first American to win the TransAm, a 4,200-mile race across the US, in 2016. For her around-the-world record attempt, Wilcox began in Chicago before cycling to New York. From hometown Anchorage, Wilcox cycled south to Los Angeles, before finishing along Route 66 to Chicago.

In a statement Wednesday, his attorney said Combs “is shocked and disappointed” by Richard’s lawsuit. Music fans both here in Philadelphia and around the world have reason to mourn on Wednesday as legendary R&B artist, songwriter and producer Frankie Beverly has died. On Wednesday morning, Beverly’s family announced the founder of the funk and soul band Maze -- who was born Howard Stanley Beverly -- passed away the day before. He lived for his music, family and friends. “After catching the attention of legendary songwriter and producer Kenny Gamble, the group had several releases under Philly-based record label Cameo Parkway,” wrote Tribune correspondent O.J. Earlier this year, after performing and touring for 50 years, Beverly played a farewell show at the Dell Music Center in North Philadelphia.
