The COVID-19 pandemic laid bare the failings of the national health service in Italy, which suffered the second-highest death toll from the pandemic in Europe after Britain. Man shot at protest over New Mexico conquistador statue

New Mexico resident Ryan Martinez, 23, was taken into custody as the suspected shooter after leaving the event in a car, said Rio Arriba County sheriff's office Major Lorenzo Aguilar. A Hopi Native American man from Seattle, Washington, was shot, according to Peixinho. The county halted the reinstallation of 16th-century Spanish conquistador Juan de Onate's statue planned for Thursday after protests over the return of the bronze figure, removed three years ago during nationwide anti-racism demonstrations. The Santa Fe New Mexican showed a picture of a man at the protest it identified as Martinez wearing a red MAGA hat. Onate is known for the 1599 massacre of a pueblo tribe, leading a group of Spanish settlers into what is now New Mexico.

He's also charged with reckless driving, racing, speeding, unsafe lane change and not wearing a seatbelt. Investigators say Esfahani was racing a pickup truck driven by 18-year Hung Nguyen about 4 a.m. on Labor Day on Georgia 316 when the two came upon a slower vehicle. Leao scores as AC Milan beat Verona 1-0

Sept 23 (Reuters) - AC Milan returned to winning ways when Rafael Leao scored in a 1-0 home win over Hellas Verona in Saturday's Serie A game that was delayed by 25 minutes due to a hailstorm. Leao gave Milan the lead in the eighth minute when Olivier Giroud pinched the ball from Verona near the halfway line and released the winger, who sprinted past two defenders scrambling to track back before slipping his shot past the goalkeeper. At the other end, Milan were rarely threatened by Verona who remain in ninth place, five points behind Stefano Pioli's side. Milan keeper Marco Sportiello pulled off a fine save from a Michael Folorunsho header in the 20th minute, but he was rarely troubled after that. Milan forward Christian Pulisic also got away from his marker in the 72nd minute but his curling shot was pushed away by Verona keeper Lorenzo Montipo.

Just 1 in 5 savers have competitive interest rates of 3% or better on their cash, a Bankrate survey from earlier this year found. Here are several mistakes with cash that financial advisors say investors should try to avoid. For savers who are keeping large balances in accounts providing low interest rates, Harrington said he tries to explain to them that they are losing spending power over time. If you have a financial advisor, you should be talking to them about all of your cash savings, according to Lane at Flourish. The Italians led 17-8 at the break and later scored a superb 60-metre try through livewire wing Ange Capuozzo. Namibia’s wait for a first World Cup win extends to a record 23 games, though they also scored an excellent try via wing Gerswin Mouton. Italy were the first to score a try after 11 minutes when Lorenzo Cannone went over after a lineout maul with Namibia already down to 14 men as hooker Torsten van Jaarsveld was sin-binned. However, Italy were much stronger after the break and the difference in quality off the bench all too evident. Sept 8 (Reuters) - Federico Chiesa and Lorenzo Pellegrini are both out of Italy's squad for the Euro 2024 qualification games with North Macedonia and Ukraine through injury, the Italian football federation (FIGC) announced on Friday. Luciano Spalletti and his squad leave on Friday for Skopje where they will face North Macedonia on Saturday, but Chiesa and Pellegrini have both returned to their clubs after picking up muscle injuries. "Subjected this morning to diagnostic tests, the Juventus striker (Chiesa) and the AS Roma midfielder (Pellegrini) were unavailable for the matches with North Macedonia and Ukraine," the FIGC statement said. This is Spalletti's first squad since replacing Roberto Mancini as Italy manager in August. After the game with North Macedonia, they will face Ukraine in Milan on Tuesday.

A vessel carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from Russia's Yamal LNG project, is seen at Rudong LNG Terminal in Nantong, Jiangsu province, China July 18, 2018. The key word Simonelli used is "destination," as it implies that LNG and natural gas are in the energy mix for a long time to come. The second bet is that the LNG industry will be able to convince government policymakers, companies and consumers that their fuel is better than the dirtier alternative of coal-fired generation. Overall, the industry is probably correct that energy demand, especially in Asia, is going to rise strongly in coming decades. But the LNG industry will also need to have policy settings just right and deploy technologies at a scale not yet seen to remain in the energy mix in a net-zero world.
