CNN —Pope Francis allegedly told Italian bishops to not permit gay men to train for the priesthood, with two Italian newspapers claiming that the 87-year-old pontiff made a homophobic slur in a closed-door meeting last week. Citing sources from inside the meeting, the Corriere della Sera and La Repubblica newspapers reported Monday that the Pope had made the comments while meeting with Italian bishops on May 20. The remarks took place in the context of proposals from the Italian bishops to amend guidelines on candidates to seminaries. Two years later he told the Italian bishops not to accept gay candidates for the priesthood. A source close to the Pope told CNN that it could also be understood as there is a “gay climate” in the seminaries.

CNN —The body of a 23-year-old hiker who went missing in storms Sunday has been found at Rocky Mountain National Park, officials said in a media release. Lucas Macaj’s body was recovered on Mills Glacier, near the base of Lamb’s Slide, and initial investigations show that he took a significant fall, park officials said on Thursday. Macaj’s vehicle was found Monday at the trailhead leading to Longs Peak. Search operations on Tuesday were slowed by strong winds, white out conditions and low visibility, park officials said. Macaj’s body was flown to a landing zone in Rocky Mountain National Park before being taken to the Boulder County Coroner’s Office, which will release the cause of death, the park service said.

CNN —Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni says surrogacy is “inhuman” and is backing steeper penalties against the practice, including fines of up to $1 million and multiple-year prison sentences. “I continue to believe that surrogacy is an inhuman practice,” Meloni said at a conference ‘For a Young Europe: Demographic Transition, Environment, Future’ in Rome on Friday. Meloni’s comments against surrogacy fall in line with the views held by the Catholic Church. “The demographic challenge, and the economic sustainability to which it is connected, is one of the main challenges for us,” she said. The stock market ended the volatile week lower, but there could still be opportunities for plenty of companies' shares to rebound. CNBC Pro used its stock screener tool to find the most overbought and oversold stocks on Wall Street as measured by their 14-day relative strength index, or RSI. Stocks with a 14-day RSI above 70 are considered overbought, which indicates that shares might soon turn lower. Devon Energy made the list of overbought stocks, dominated by oil and gas producers, with an RSI of 82. On the other hand, Texas-based life insurer Globe Life , with an RSI of just 3, is among the most oversold stocks on Wall Street.

Stocks that have missed out on this year's market rally could be solid contenders for a rebound, according to Goldman Sachs. Heading into the second quarter, Goldman searched for buy-rated names in its coverage universe that could win big going forward. Goldman screened for "compounders," which offer investors high financial returns, free cash flow generation, margin expansion and sales growth. Most analysts covering the stock currently have a buy rating assigned to the name, with about 39% upside to the consensus price target, per LSEG. Pfizer stock has slipped 9% this year.

The latest Vatican document identifies various “violations” to human dignity, including in the digital world, pointing to the trends where people’s personal lives are laid bare and “combed over” anonymously. “There is a widespread notion that euthanasia or assisted suicide is somehow consistent with respect for the dignity of the human person,” the document states. He also pointed out that church opposition to abortion is not down to “fanaticism” but a consistent defense of the human person. He pointed out that the new document lists violence against women before abortion in its list of violations against human dignity.
