Trekking Across Switzerland, Guided by Locals’ Hand-Drawn Maps Nostalgic for a time before ubiquitous connectivity, a writer ditched his phone and relied instead on serendipity — and maps made by people he met along the way. So perhaps the most difficult day was also the day I knew for sure that I would make it — that I’d find my way across Switzerland with nothing but the hand-drawn maps of strangers. The map I’m using was drawn by Susana, a Portuguese woman who married into a local family and now runs a mountain refuge near the village of Grindelwald. Days 9 and 10 43 miles, through the original heart of Switzerland and the turquoise lakes of the canton of Glarus. This is the heart of Switzerland — the original cantons that formed the Old Swiss Confederacy, the precursor to the modern-day country.

CNN —Like its titular tornados, “Twisters” blasts through a lot in its 122-minute runtime. Generally, scientists are the least certain about the connection between tornadoes and climate change as it’s unclear how warming temperatures are changing storms themselves or the outbreaks. Cathy, a local farmer, gripes that storms and floods are becoming more frequent, and the price of wheat more expensive, while stopping short of citing climate change. However, for a film populated by scientists and clued-in citizens to not mention climate change is a little like the twisters themselves: there’s a hole at the center. !”“Making a ‘Twisters’ movie in Tornado Alley during storm season, tornado season, it’s kind of perfect.

The unequivocal victory by Alec Baldwin’s legal team in a New Mexico courtroom on Friday has lifted the threat of criminal liability for the actor’s role in the fatal shooting of the cinematographer on the set of the movie “Rust.” But several lawsuits brought against him after the tragedy still loom. Litigation was filed by “Rust” crew members and the family of Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer who was killed when an old-fashioned revolver that Mr. Baldwin was positioning for a close-up discharged a live bullet that should not have been on the set. The proceedings against Mr. Baldwin were held off somewhat by the involuntary manslaughter case, which fell apart in a stunning series of events on Friday. The lead special prosecutor called herself to the stand before the judge dismissed the case permanently, determining that the state had intentionally withheld evidence from Mr. Baldwin’s defense that could have helped him. Mr. Baldwin walked out of the courtroom in tears.

Making a Pokémon fan’s day means more than catching ‘em allPokémon isn’t Coop’s day job, but it’s become an increasingly meaningful part of his life. But he takes a shine to one of Coop’s cards with an iridescent Alakazam, a mustachioed psychic Pokémon, and a high score of 9. It’s a card Coop intended to sell, but without thinking twice, Coop opens his display case and gifts the kid the card for free. As a result, many Americans often have little to no knowledge of what’s going on around the world, thus unfairly adding to the “stupid American” stereotype.
