Jim Cramer explains why he's bullish on Starbucks
  + stars: | 2024-09-30 | by ( Julie Coleman | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +2 min
CNBC's Jim Cramer on Monday told investors why he's optimistic about Starbucks , reviewing the bull and bear cases for the stock recently released by different analysts. "I think he's got such a great track record that he's more than earned the benefit of the doubt." The ailing coffee change announced a change of management last month, replacing CEO Laxman Narasimhan with former Chipotle CEO Brian Niccol. Starbucks saw sales decline over the past few quarters, and shares fell more than 20% during Narasimhan's time in the role, according to CNBC. Cramer compared a bearish downgrade from Jefferies and a bullish upgrade from Bernstein, as both firms posted analyses last week.

Harris’ campaign is pouring more money and effort into advertising, targeted messaging and on-the-ground organizing. “One in five Latino voters in this election are going to be voting for the first time, so they’re forming their opinions about the candidates. English is predominantly our first language,” Enriquez said on a Trump campaign press call earlier this month. “A full 55% of Latino voters had not heard from anybody, not just candidates, but nonpartisan or any other type of organization. The Latino Victory Fund on Saturday kicked off a plan to bus volunteers from New York to Pennsylvania to engage with the state’s more than 400,000 eligible Latino voters.

One of the nation’s largest Muslim political groups endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday despite fierce opposition to her Middle East policy, saying that stopping former President Donald Trump is paramount. Alzayat, of Emgage, said his group respected those in the community who are making different decisions. And he acknowledged the difficulty of backing Harris, pointing to Palestinian and Lebanese American staffers and supporters of the group. “We hold President Biden responsible for continuing to provide the Netanyahu government with weapons.,” Alzayat said, drawing a distinction with Harris. RH CEO Gary Friedman told CNBC's Jim Cramer on Friday why the upscale home furnishing retailer doesn't have any official social media accounts, saying paid promotions by online influencers aren't authentic. And, you know, having fake fans and people you pay talk about you on Instagram or TikTok or whatnot, it's not the truth." Friedman conceded that social media has exploded, and "the digital visualization and connectivity is real." However, he said that if consumers aren't interested in our showing enthusiasm for the brand, RH should do better work, not pay others to talk about the company. He claimed that RH still has a solid presence online, but not because of paid influencing or social media marketing on the company's part.

But regardless of the week's events, Cramer said the Fed's successful start to the easing cycle is leading the market in a positive direction. "We're in a rate cut cycle now, ok, it's very different from, from the last couple years. Next year should be better for the homebuilder than 2024 because the Fed is lowering rates, he added. Semiconductor outfit Micron will report earnings on Wednesday along with Cintas , which supplies a range of materials, including uniforms, to businesses. Retail grocery giant Costco reports on Thursday, and Cramer will be paying attention to which products are and aren't selling.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Thursday reviewed stocks that have historically performed well just after the Federal Reserve embarks on a cutting cycle and chose his favorites. Using data compiled by CNBC Pro, Cramer discussed the top 10 stocks with the median best performance during three months after an initial cut over the past 40 years. "Now that the Fed's started cutting rates with a bang, you need to think about what kind of stocks will work best in what I consider to be a new regime. Our friends as CNBC Pro got you started with the ten stocks that've done best during the first three months after a rate cuts, going back to '84," he said. "But when you go through their current circumstances, the only ones I can fully endorse are Apple, Target and Textron, in that order."

"You need to know that a rate cut is never bad for stocks, as long as it's telegraphed," he said. "A large rate cut, as long as it's communicated to the media with plenty of time in a considered way, is also acceptable." Investors were anticipating interest rate cuts for some time, with most convinced the Federal Reserve would issue a September cut, but unsure whether it would be by 25 or 50 basis points. By Thursday's close, Wall Street seemed more confident about the cut. Cramer added that a double rate cut means even more cash will flow in from the sidelines.

“There’s no one that can organize quite like labor,” Harris campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said. All together, labor leaders predict thousands of union members will deploy to battleground states to knock on doors or work phone banks. “It will be determinative,” Butler said of the Sun Belt labor groups' role in the November election. “Arizona is going to be a state that, at the end of the day, will elect the president — President Harris — I truly believe that,” McLaughlin said. “Momentum will carry Vice President Harris and Governor [Tim] Walz through.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Wednesday discussed the repercussions of the Federal Reserve's interest rate cuts on the technology sector, saying he thinks they hinder tech stocks because the companies don't necessarily stand to benefit from lower rates. "With a double-sized rate cut that everybody already expected, you aren't gonna see a huge run in tech. Unlike companies in the retail or housing sector, large tech companies are largely divorced from the consumer and the labor market, and cater to the enterprise, he added. Consumer-oriented companies may be the ones to own during this cutting cycle, Cramer suggested, even though tech stocks can still be winners with rates coming down. "On days like today, we want the companies that desperately needed a rate cut, because they just got what they wished for," Cramer said.

When CNBC's Jim Cramer asked AMD CEO Lisa Su about competition with artificial intelligence powerhouse Nvidia , she said there was room for more than one major player in the red-hot semiconductor industry. "The way to think about it is, there's no one size fits all in computing," she said. Both AMD and Nvidia design semiconductor chips essential for the new generative AI technology everyone in the enterprise is clamoring for. To Su, the "technology ecosystem" works well when there's competition and partnership, saying there should be areas where rivals work together and where they compete. Su also discussed the future of AI, saying the world is just beginning to recognize what AI can do.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Tuesday pinpointed why he thinks artificial intelligence is useful across the business world, saying its value stems from customer service potential across industries. Cramer gave examples of how AI customer service capabilities could change workflows in several fields, including retail, food service, law and health care. He suggested AI agents could answer patients' questions and free up doctors' time to engage in other pursuits. "AI makes things go faster — everything. It makes things more rational — everything," he said.

“I’m here to support my wife and everybody else that deserves the right to have freedom of their reproductive rights,” said Goldberg, a 70-year-old retired computer software developer. Women clearly feel the impact of abortion restrictions, said Harris campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez. At the same time, he argued, there’s no precedent for reproductive rights being a driving issue for men. The couple has become surrogates for the Harris campaign on reproductive rights, including at last month’s Democratic National Convention. “I’m here because the fight for reproductive rights isn’t just a women’s fight,” Josh Zurawski said at the Chicago convention.

In a Monday interview with CNBC's Jim Cramer, Broadcom CEO Hock Tan detailed why the semiconductor company hiked up its guidance for artificial intelligence revenue during its earnings report earlier this month, saying huge enterprises are invested in the products. "We are in a segment of the market in AI where we are addressing several hyperscalers," he said. "And these hyperscalers have very strong incentive, ambition to towards building continually, investing in large language models to basically create models that are smarter and smarter." While Wall Street widely expects the Fed to cut rates after its meeting later this week, it remains up in the air how large the cut will be. Some expect a 25 basis-point cut, while others are hoping for a 50 basis-point cut. According to Cramer, investors took profits in tech and bought cyclical stocks because many anticipate a higher rate cut. He suggested that if the Fed decides to cut rates by 0.25%, investors will shift back into tech, and Monday's winners will suffer. It flows right back to where it came from: The tech stocks that got sold today," he said.

WASHINGTON — The Harris campaign is launching its largest effort yet to reach Latino voters, with new spending on Spanish-language radio and an organizing push around boxing matches and baseball games as National Hispanic Heritage Month kicks off this weekend. Vice President Kamala Harris will address the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s annual conference on Wednesday, according to a senior campaign official, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is expected to pitch Latino voters in swing states in the coming weeks. The Harris campaign is also planning to host gatherings around Mexican Independence Day on Monday, including voter contact events at churches. The Harris campaign is especially focused on reaching undecided Latino voters who may be persuaded by some of Trump’s economic message.
