Her two oldest children were living in New York, while her two youngest were still in college. As the pandemic raged, Ms. Snyder and her daughter shared a two-bedroom in a high-rise on Riverside Boulevard. But “the process of looking teaches you what you want,” Ms. Snyder said. “Or instead of a 10-by-12 living room, it was a 14-by-12 living-and-dining room,” with little room for a table. “It is a draw for my kids,” Ms. Snyder said.

Photo: David Paul Morris/BloombergMore Americans are having a harder time keeping up with their car, credit-card and mortgage payments compared with a year ago. The share of debt balances that became at least 90 days delinquent in the first quarter of 2023 was 1.08%, up from 0.071% a year earlier, according to a report from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York released Monday.
Microsoft bought Nuance in 2022 for nearly $20 billion to expand its reach in healthcare. CHICAGO — In 2022, Microsoft bought Nuance for nearly $20 billion to supercharge its growth in the healthcare industry. It's the first tool in Nuance's pipeline to combine the company's own AI models with that of OpenAI, ChatGPT's creator and a deep Microsoft partner. Even back in 2015, enthusiasm for the idea was palpable, Peter Durlach, Nuance's chief strategy officer, told Insider in April. In a conference presentation, Andrea Barrett, a physician assistant and Nuance consultant, demonstrates products using generative AI.
While Hollywood deals with the first TV and movie writers’ strike in 15 years, the wealth of content that we have available to us is a good reminder of the creativity those writers have put into making the shows and movies we love. Something to sip on…Corey Mylchreest as Young King George, India Amarteifio as Young Queen Charlotte in episode 101 of "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story." Liam Daniel/NetflixOne of the reasons the strike is even happening is because streaming has changed the entertainment industry so much that writers say their wages are being adversely affected through shorter seasons and changing distribution models. Those individuals can’t work – and some of our favorite shows will be delayed – unless writers and studios reach a new agreement soon. In the meantime, catch up on some brilliant shows you’ve missed.
CNN —Give Pete Davidson a bit of credit for making himself the least interesting part of a series about being Pete Davidson. Having already played a version of himself in the Peacock movie “The King of Staten Island,” Davidson certainly doesn’t seem overly concerned about stretching his acting chops. Davidson is introduced Google-ing himself, chafing at living in the public eye while residing (uncomfortably at times, as an early sequence demonstrates) with his mom. “Bupkis” is at times very funny, but when it comes to getting to know more about Pete Davidson, the show’s admirable qualities are more in spite of that than because of it. “Bupkis” premieres May 4 on Peacock.
A courtroom sketch shows Justice Juan Merchan instructing the jury in the Trump Organization’s criminal tax trial in Manhattan Criminal Court last year. Photo: JANE ROSENBERG/REUTERSNew York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan was assigned to preside over the hush-money prosecution of former President Donald Trump because he had experience overseeing previous litigation involving the former president and his company, according to people familiar with the process, but that history could complicate the proceedings and expose him to more of Mr. Trump’s attacks. Justice Merchan’s journey to the precedent-setting case began with an assignment to referee a subpoena dispute between the Manhattan district attorney’s office and the Trump Organization in late 2020, the people familiar with the matter said.

Celebrations is all about bringing people together and we are thrilled to be sharing this occasion with so many chocolate lovers up and down the country,” she added. King Charles III’s coronation will take place on May 6 in London’s Westminster Abbey.

CNN —A protester disrupted the World Snooker Championship on Monday by climbing onto the table and throwing a bag of orange powder paint over the playing surface. Video footage shows the man – who was wearing a ‘Just Stop Oil’ t-shirt – running from the crowd and leaping onto the table during the game between Robert Milkins and Joe Perry. “It’s scary, actually.”The World Snooker Tour, who organizes the tournament, tweeted on Monday: “This is the Crucible. The team prosecuting Donald Trump in Manhattan is a mix of young lawyers and veterans, career officials and longtime criminal defense attorneys who recently returned to government work. The historic case against the former president will tap into their combined experience as they confront a singular defendant who tends to make fights personal. Mr. Trump, who is running for a second White House term, has derided District Attorney Alvin Bragg as an “animal” and a “psychopath” on social media and called for his resignation in a speech last week. He targeted one of the prosecutors on Mr. Bragg’s team by name on social media, falsely accusing him of being a plant by the Biden administration.
Last year, after buying a municipal bond issued by the city of Kankakee, Ill., Kevin Roczey found himself hooked on securities that the market had long overlooked. The renewed interest in bonds is widespread, but it has come with plenty of hiccups. Individual investors like Mr. Roczey are rusty—that is, if they knew anything about bonds to begin with.

At Lefortovo prison, the interrogations start with the clanging of metal. Guards patrolling hundreds of cells at the sprawling facility on the outskirts of Moscow bang their keys together to signal that an inmate is being escorted from their cells to an interrogation room, according to former prisoners, their families and their lawyers. Others snap their fingers in the hallways, where fluorescent lights buzz day and night, a warning there should be no other prisoners in sight and as few personnel as possible.

When Adam Blum, a radiologist from Cleveland, arrived at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Ore., on a recent golf vacation, the first course he and his seven friends chose to play consisted of 13 par-3 holes, ranging from 63 to 150 yards. Why that one rather than one of the property’s five nationally ranked, championship-length layouts?
