FEMA has dedicated disaster relief money that cannot be used for other purposes. FEMA’s disaster response efforts and individual assistance is funded through the Disaster Relief Fund, which is a dedicated fund for disaster efforts,” FEMA said in its post. “Disaster Relief Fund money has not been diverted to other, non-disaster related efforts.”FEMA added: “FEMA has enough money right now for immediate response and recovery needs. However, that program called the Shelter and Services Program, or SSP, is separate from FEMA’s disaster relief fund which is more than $20 billion. A spokesperson for Homeland Security, which oversees FEMA, said any claims of disaster funds going to illegal immigrants are false.

MILWAUKEE — Former President Donald Trump has never stopped propagating falsehoods that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him. “The Democrat Party is guilty of the Worst Election Interference in American History,” Trump wrote Wednesday on social media after the judge overseeing his federal election interference case in Washington released a redacted filing from special counsel Jack Smith. Trump’s campaign did not provide a response to questions about his repeated use of the “election interference” label. It’s part of an extensive pattern of false election-rigging claims from Trump — beyond his well-documented lies about the 2020 election. He was among the 139 GOP House members who objected to the 2020 election certification.

Trump's arguments for overturning his $454M civil fraud verdict received a warm reception Thursday. Trump attorney D. John Sauer has made this line drawing a central point of his appeal. The appeal argues that James' fraud case wrongly interfered in the decisions of "sophisticated" banks that had been happy to loan Trump money regardless of any exaggerations. Deutsche Bank relied on Trump's financial statements in loaning him $400 million to develop his Chicago skyscraper, his Washington, DC hotel, and his Miami golf resort. CNN —A New York appeals court is set to hear arguments Thursday in former President Donald Trump’s bid to have the $454 million civil fraud judgment against him dismissed. The appellate hearing is yet another legal development for Trump playing out the same time as his presidential campaign hits the homestretch. In addition to the civil fraud appeal, Trump’s lawyers have argued to dismiss the guilty verdict in the New York criminal case, the federal election interference case in Washington, DC, and the E. Jean Carroll defamation verdict – all in the past month. The judgment against Trump was for $354 million, with an additional $100 million in interest that had accrued when the judge’s ruling was issued in February. “The award of $464 million in a case with no victims, no proven injuries, and no losses is not remotely defensible,” Trump’s lawyers wrote.
