Shortly after the opening bell, we will be exiting our position in Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), selling 500 shares at roughly $171 each. Following Monday's trade, Jim Cramer's Charitable Trust will no longer own a position in J & J. We are making the tough decision to exit our J & J position after the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey dismissed the bankruptcy plan of the company's subsidiary LTL Management. LTL was created by J & J to silo the talc litigation. How much more will Johnson & Johnson have to pay?

I didn't really know all the details when I first set up my retirement plan years ago. My retirement plan focuses on a variety of index funds with low fees now. I rolled my old 403(b) into a traditional IRA plan at Fidelity, where my Roth IRA was housed. My Roth IRA was in a targeted retirement plan then, meaning the investments would rebalance to become less aggressive as I neared retirement. Once I made the index funds switch for my IRAs, I got started on my husband's retirement accounts.

NEW YORK, July 23 (Reuters) - It is Barbie’s world, and U.S. small businesses hope their social-media marketing can help them cash in on it. But as Mattel-licensed Barbie marketing and products flood big companies' stores, hotel suites and social media posts, small firms also seek to capitalize on the hype. “Small businesses may look at the Barbie promotions and dream of that kind of budget and mass brand awareness,” said Brianne Fleming, an adjunct marketing instructor at University of Florida. MoonFire, an arts boutique based in Dallas, Texas, hosted a Barbie-themed collaboration in person with ten small businesses selling hot-pink, Barbie-inspired products. So, for small businesses, the strategy is to be a quick follower,” he said.

President Joe Biden will create a national monument in honor of Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley. Till's murder in Mississippi helped spark the civil-rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s. The monument locations will consist of a site in Chicago and two sites in rural Mississippi. Bryant and Milam then tortured and lynched the teenager before throwing his body into the Tallahatchie River. In March 2022, Biden signed into law the Emmett Till Anti-Lynching Act, which made lynching a federal hate crime for the first time in US history.

Opinion | The Lifelong Burden of a Chronic Illness

To the Editor:Re “‘My Body Is a Clock’: Portraits of Chronic Care,” by Sara J. Winston (Opinion guest essay, July 2):I want to thank Ms. Winston for her essay about the challenge of living with a chronic health condition in America. She clearly captured the persistent fear that lives in me and every American with a chronic condition who depends on continuous treatment. It was diagnosed in early childhood, and I require daily inhalers, oral immune-suppressant medications and vigilance to keep my condition in check. My life choices were all based on the essential requirement of maintaining affordable, continuous health care: my career, my employers, proximity to hospitals and a pulmonologist. Our American health care system, which relies heavily on employer-provided health insurance and is unaffordable for those with no health insurance, is a nightmare for people like Ms. Winston and me.

Chronic illness is well hidden from society. Before I had a name for what ailed my body, I thought of myself as dehydrated and out of shape. At that time, I looked at chronic illness as an outsider. In the fall of 2015, under the care of a neurologist, I began a monthly intravenous treatment of medication that blocks immune cells from entering the brain and spinal cord. I travel 65 miles to a site in the Hudson Valley for the infusion therapy.

"There is the group that's moving forward with being involved with Leeds. Myself, JT and Jordan potentially will be a part of it," Fowler told Sky Sports. Alcaraz raced to a 4-1 lead but Marozsan hit back in superb style to reel off six points and hand the world number two only his second defeat on clay in 22 matches this season. "It's not easy to say something," Marozsan said immediately after the biggest win of his career. World number three Daniil Medvedev earned a hard-fought 3-6 6-1 6-3 win over Spain's Bernabe Zapata Miralles to reach the last 16 in Rome for the first time. In the women's draw, Elena Rybakina saw off Marketa Vondrousova 6-3 6-3 to reach her first claycourt WTA 1000 quarter-final, where she will face either top-ranked Iga Swiatek, the twice defending champion, or Croatia's Donna Vekic. Tsitsipas had taken the first set 6-3 against Sonego while Zverev leads 6-4 3-3 against Wolf.
Ed Sheeran Lets His Tears Flow on ‘-’

In February 2022, Sheeran’s close friend Jamal Edwards died at 31; he was a YouTube tastemaker, producer, entrepreneur and D.J. Over the last decade, he has proved himself to be a consummate, driven 21st-century musician: gifted, career-minded and supremely adaptable yet easily recognizable, writing songs that revel in direct language and big feelings. Sheeran has made himself the USB port of pop songwriting, connecting with virtually everything. His new album completes a five-album arc of arithmetic symbols, with “-” following “+” (2011), “x” (2014), “÷” (2017) and “=” (2021). Per its title, “-” was intended to be a stripped-down singer-songwriter album, though Sheeran has by no means renounced big pop choruses.

And once again, there are signs that the administration may fall short, with at least two Democrats and an independent wavering over whether to support Ms. Su. The administration may not be able to lose any of those votes if her nomination is to succeed. Ms. Su noted her role helping the department expand apprenticeships and other training programs under Mr. Walsh, and working at his side to avoid a potentially costly freight rail strike. She said she would seek employers’ advice on improving worker safety, and described the reverence she gained for small business owners after watching her immigrant parents operate a dry cleaner and a pizza franchise. Democrats argue that Ms. Su, who has strong backing from labor unions, would be a strong worker advocate and enforcer of provisions like the minimum wage, safety regulations and restrictions on child labor, as well as the right to join unions.

Nowadays, the promise of social media as a unifying force for good has all but collapsed, and Zuckerberg is slashing thousands of jobs after his company's rocky pivot to the metaverse. Much like social media in 2012, the AI industry is standing on the precipice of immense change. And as Altman and his cohort charge ahead, AI could fundamentally reshape our economy and lives even more than social media. If social media helped expose the worst impulses of humanity on a mass scale, generative AI could be a turbocharger that accelerates the spread of our faults. Social media amplified society's issues, as Wooldridge puts it.
Lawyers representing Trump keep getting sanctioned by courts. Many of Trump's lawyers, even if they are not sanctioned, end up needing lawyers of their own to ward off the worst consequences. Insider identified 17 lawyers who have been personally sanctioned because of their work for Trump. The least successful, however, was a sprawling lawsuit Trump filed against Hillary Clinton, the Democratic National Committee, and several other figures linked to Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign. He was part of Trump's "Elite Strike Force" of lawyers trying to convince judges to cancel votes and have Trump declared the victor.

European markets were on course to open higher Friday, extending the previous session's gains as investors take stock of the slew of economic data published this week. Across Europe, inflation data came in hotter than expected. A flash estimate for the euro zone showed headline inflation eased from 8.6% to 8.5%, but this was above a consensus estimate; while core inflation rose from 5.3% to 5.6%. However, in a separate speech, Fed Governor Christopher J. Waller raised the possibility of a higher terminal rate if inflation does not cool, citing January's bumper payrolls report. Asia-Pacific markets were mostly higher Friday, while U.S. stock futures nudged lower.
US stocks climbed higher on Friday, snapping a weekly losing streak. Fears of a move back to bigger rate hikes were eased as traders digested comments from Fed officials. All three indices ended the day higher, with the Dow gaining almost 400 points to break a four-week streak of losses. "The solid ISM survey and resilience to high interest rates will reinforce the Fed's resolve that interest rates should continue to move higher. "The Fed wants to tread lightly to minimize the risk that they overshoot and cause an unnecessarily severe downturn."

The deal, coming just days after Brooklyn traded Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks, shakes up the league hours ahead of Thursday afternoon’s trade deadline. The Suns are sending Brooklyn a trio of forwards in return—Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and dynamic defender Mikal Bridges—in addition to four first-round picks and a pick swap in 2028. The Suns also receive forward T.J. Warren. The trade was first reported by ESPN and The Athletic.
