The S & P 500 and Nasdaq Composite have rallied during the second quarter and are currently within 1% of their record highs. "It's great to see S & P and Nasdaq make new highs, but clearly something is not right if key barometers for risk are rolling over," Ginsberg wrote. There doesn't even seem to be a consensus among the biggest names in the stock market. These latest signs of weakness are part of the long-standing worry about the lack of market breadth . Nvidia (NVDA) is finally showing signs of profit-taking, suggesting that the entire technology sector might be ready for a breather. This could present many bearish trading setups in various stocks because of the influence Nvidia has had leading the AI bubble. For now, let's focus on making a bearish trade in the Invesco QQQ Trust , an ETF that tracks the Nasdaq 100 index. The Trade The trade structure I have chosen here is called a Bear Call Spread also known as a Call Credit Spread. Read previewMajor stock market indexes look virtually unstoppable. 3 alternatives to market cap-weighted indexesTo combat growing concentration risk for the S&P 500, Geraci laid out three alternative investing approaches to consider. In a downside scenario for a stock like Nvidia, this could help minimize the damage it would do to the cap-weighted S&P 500. And third, consider international stocks, which have dramatically lagged US stocks, Geraci said. Core Equity 2 ETF (DFAX), and the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (EEM) offer exposure to international stocks.

The company did not break out overseas revenue for the first quarter, but said overall revenue grew by 14% from a year ago to 3.8 billion yuan. When compared to Japanese companies, the contribution of overseas revenue to the total for Chinese businesses is low across industries. There's a growing dominance of technology stocks in the stock market. Using LSEG, we searched for stocks outside the concentrated tech universe that are expected to reach new highs. Citizens Financial has a forward P/E ratio of 12.1 and five-year P/E of about 15, while Fifth Third's forward P/E is 11.1 and its five-year slightly lower, at about 10.8. Analysts polled by LSEG think shares have about 18% upside potential, and the stock also has an attractive forward P/E ratio of about 4.77, by far the least of the group. Other attractive stocks that could reach new highs include homebuilder Pultegroup and insurance company Allstate .

First Solar still has substantially room to run even after rallying about 80% over the past two months, with tailwinds from tariffs and data center demand on the horizon, according to Goldman Sachs. Goldman raised its stock price target for First Solar by nearly $31 to $302 per share, implying 11% upside from Friday's close of $271.76. First Solar is also party to a trade case that could result in the imposition of tariffs on solar module manufacturers from four Southeast Asian nations. Goldman has estimated that power demand from data centers will more than double to 8% of total U.S. consumption by 2030. Goldman sees First Solar's earnings per share increasing by about 20% in 2027 if the company adds a new plant.

It's a more aggressive approach than many investors employ, because being a short seller is infinitely more risky than buying shares. But when you short, the potential loss is unlimited because there's no guarantee a stock's price will fall; it could instead rally to extreme highs. These variables include low institutional ownership, low cash reserves, and market caps smaller than $250 million, among other characteristics that could signal a vulnerable stock. Exxon and Chevron are the fund's top two holdings , representing 9.73% and 9.27% of total assets in FSTEX as of April 30. Exxon vs. Chevron Chevron came into the year facing production issues in the Permian Basin and cost overruns at its Tengiz project in Kazakhstan that frustrated investors, Holt said. And investors have taken notice of Exxon's lead position in the lucrative offshore oil development in Guyana. Chevron would look very attractive if the Hess deal closes due to the latter's large stake in Guyana, he said. "There's a little concern that if Chevron doesn't do the Hess deal, then they have to go and do another deal," Holt said.
