Bailey took the rare step of trying to sue the state of New York before the Supreme Court, which has jurisdiction over disputes between states. Before the trial, Trump was fined for violating the original gag order, especially as it related to Cohen, one of the key witnesses.

It may be even harder now that cracks are forming in the labor market. The jobs report was not a disaster, by any stretch, and it’s no guarantee of a looming recession. But it was a surprise, and economists expressed concerns about how quickly the labor market appears to have downshifted. House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good, R-Va., has lost his primary recount, a Virginia court certified Thursday, cementing his narrow defeat to GOP state Sen. John McGuire. The recount results confirmed McGuire beat Good after McGuire initially led Good by just 374 votes in the June primary in Virginia’s 5th District. “If you’re on the Republican team and you’re part of the Democrat team to take out the Republican team, you’re not on the Republican team,” McGuire said. “Bob is on the Bob Good team.”McGuire is expected to win in November, given the 5th District’s Republican lean.
