WARE, England (AP) — Buffalo Bills edge rusher Von Miller says it's a “safe bet” that he'll make his season debut against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Miller, who sustained a knee injury last November, said Friday there's a “94 1/2 percent” likelihood of him suiting up at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. “I am excited to play American football in front this crowd,” said Miller, the NFL’s active leader in sacks. He tore a ligament and sustained cartilage damage in his right knee during a win at Detroit last Thanksgiving Day. Under NFL rules, Miller opened a three-week window in which he’s allowed to practice before he’s required to be activated or returned to the injured list.

Arsenal suffer double blow with Saka injured in loss to Lens

Oct 4 (Reuters) - Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said he is worried about Bukayo Saka's availability for Sunday's league game against Manchester City after the forward went off injured in the first half of their 2-1 Champions League defeat by RC Lens. The 22-year-old also limped off the pitch in Arsenal's 4-0 league win at Bournemouth - which was his 87th consecutive Premier League appearance. Arteta has been criticised for not resting Saka often enough but the Spanish manager said all the players had been keen to play against Lens. "It was a big Champions League night," he added. But the Champions League is so difficult to win ... and today we take a big lesson as well."

The referees' body, Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), admitted it was the wrong decision to disallow Luis Diaz's effort, blaming human error, and "should have resulted in the goal being awarded through VAR intervention". Liverpool released a statement on Sunday saying it was clear the rules of the game were not applied correctly, which undermined sporting integrity, adding that they would explore the options available for resolution. On Tuesday the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) released the full audio from the VAR centre relating to the mistake, were the VAR incorrectly communicated "check complete", confirming the on-field decision. "In a lapse of concentration and loss of focus in that moment, the VAR lost sight of the on-field decision and he incorrectly communicated "check complete", therefore inadvertently confirming the on-field decision. After the restart of the match, the VAR and AVAR concluded that the VAR protocol in the Laws of the Game prohibited the match from being stopped. Following the error, VAR officials Darren England and Dan Cook were replaced for two further games last weekend. PGMOL and The FA have also agreed to review the policy to allow match officials to officiate matches outside of FIFA or UEFA designations.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Son Heung-min secured the exemption after his Korean team won gold at the last Games in Jakarta in 2018. K-pop star Suga, songwriter and rapper for the boy band supergroup BTS, began the enlistment process for mandatory military service last month, making him the third BTS member to go off to perform the military duty. The military service law was amended several years ago to allow selected K-pop megastars to defer their service to aged 30, but not to avoid it entirely, with a large section of the population against giving stars like BTS special treatment. "We have players (in the current squad) who have been exempt from military service by winning gold medals in past editions of the games, but... we also several players who have not yet avoided military service. "But of course, because a gold medal gives one an exemption, and we have many who haven't done their service yet... we should perform at our best and get the gold."

The NFL kicks off the first of this season's international games on Sunday at Wembley Stadium in London before the series shifts for the first time to Frankfurt for two games starting Nov. 5. NFL Europe, which began in 1991 with 10 teams, shuttered in 2007 and was replaced by regular season NFL games starting with a contest at Wembley in October 2007. "It may have been back at the very first game at Wembley, but now this is a really educated fanbase." About 82% of tickets sold for two London games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next month went to fans in the United Kingdom, the NFL said. "There's a pathway to 150 foreign born players in the NFL in the not so distant future," he said.

For South Korean male participants, winning a gold medal in the Asian Games or Olympic Games not only brings honor but also grants them a military exemption. However, the mandatory duty can be waived for some athletes, in particular those who win an Olympic medal or a gold medal in the Asian Games. Seven games will be featured as official medal events at the 19th Asian Games, building on the success of the pilot event at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games. The venue for the Asian Games esports competitions is state-of-the-art and an impressive sight to see. With its inclusion as an official Asian Games medal event, the possibility of esports becoming a part of the Olympic Games is a topic of growing debate.

Chelsea's woes continued as they lost at home to Aston Villa and Sheffield United slumped to the bottom of the table as they suffered a humiliating 8-0 home thrashing by Newcastle United in which eight different Newcastle players scored. The first north London Premier League derby since 2014 not to feature Harry Kane produced an enthralling contest at The Emirates where the two unbeaten sides went toe-to-toe. Arsenal twice led, first through Cristian Romero's 26th-minute own goal, and again thanks to Bukayo Saka's penalty early in the second half. Trossard goal seals Arsenal win at Everton

LIVERPOOL, England, Sept 17 (Reuters) - Arsenal claimed their first Premier League win at Everton for six years as Leandro Trossard's second-half strike proved enough to secure the points at Goodison Park on Sunday. Everton, still without a win this season, had managed to frustrate the visitors who had a Gabriel Martinelli goal ruled out for offside via VAR in the first period. Unbeaten Arsenal joined Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool on 13 points from five games, two points behind leaders Manchester City who have a 100% record. Arsenal's last league win at Everton in 2017 ended the reign of Ronald Koeman and while Sean Dyche is unlikely to suffer a similar fate, he has a huge task on his hands. But Arsenal eventually unpicked their defence with a short-corner eventually being fed in to Martin Odegaard who released Bukayo Saka on the right side of the penalty area.

Fightbacks were the order of the day as Liverpool recovered from falling behind to win 3-1 at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the early kickoff and two goals deep into stoppage time earned Tottenham Hotspur a 2-1 win over Sheffield United. After another tumultuous week off the pitch for Manchester United, the club needed the players to lift their supporters. United fell behind in the 20th minute when Danny Welbeck slotted home against his former club when left unmarked in the penalty area. "Definitely that (losing three from five for the first time in Premier League history) is something that bothers me, but also I have to seen the way we play," coach Erik ten Hag said. Tottenham were heading for their first Premier League defeat under Ange Postecoglou as they trailed to Gustavo Hamer's goal against the run of play in the 75th minute.
