Making a creature come to life in a video game is a collaborative process, where she interprets the directions to bring characters to life. Interactive media contract negotiations between SAG-AFTRA and video game studios have been ongoing since 2022 and have stalled due to disagreements over AI protections. Tensions in the ongoing video game strikes arose over how AI can be used for "digital replicas" and whether actors can be compensated for them. If you've played video games at all, that is almost never the case," Norris said. Related storiesThese negotiations take place amid a slowdown in the $200 billion video game industry.

She went to work as a process engineer at an Intel chip fab in Arizona. Its next-generation Blackwell chip faces delays, raising questions about supply-chain impacts. As Nvidia prepares to report its second-quarter earnings on Wednesday, some of those questions are still relevant, while some have faded away. Efforts by other companies to build competitive AI chips haven't reached more than a simmer, and the rollout of Nvidia's next-generation Blackwell chip is said to be delayed. The analysts also wrote that revenue from existing products, specifically the H200 and H20 AI chips, could offset any delayed revenue from the Blackwell chip. According to an S&P Global analysis, the global semiconductor industry consumed as much water in 2021 as the city of Hong Kong. Water consumption for chip fabs and data centers will rise as the demand for chips grows. The chip fabs stored the TCE underground, but tanks sometimes ruptured, leaking the chemical into the local groundwater and soil. Now, chip fabs must work with local governments to meet water management and waste disposal requirements. Several researchers are investigating ways to reduce and recycle water in chip manufacturing.

Paris CNN —Days before taking part in the Paris Olympics, Tom Daley already felt like he had won a gold medal, such was his joy at having his kids at the competition with him. On Monday, the British diver got his hands on an actual medal, too, winning silver alongside partner Noah Williams in the men’s synchronized 10-meter platform. That marked the fourth medal of Daley’s long Olympic career, dating all the way back to the Beijing Games in 2008 when he competed as a fresh-faced 14-year-old. “It’s the happiest I’ve been in diving in all these years because diving wasn’t necessarily my top priority,” he told reporters.
