Their response lies in their new documentary "Love to Hate: Nickelback." The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on Friday, a fitting homecoming for the Canadian band. Starring band members Chad Kroeger, Michael Kroeger, Ryan Peake and Daniel Adair, the film takes both haters and fans on a journey through the group's "rollercoaster career." "We thought this was a chance for us to hold the narrative," said Ryan Peake, Nickelback's guitarist and backing vocalist. Frontman Chad Kroeger no longer rocks his iconic long hair, but his blonde frosted tips brought a hint of nostalgia from the band's original look.

Social media was having a field day turning Burning Man into the epicenter of schadenfreude and misinformation, the few people who managed to connect to the internet reported. SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell was upset when Elon Musk kept financing Starlink in Ukraine, per a new book. Musk had reportedly told the Pentagon Starlink equipment could no longer be sent to Ukraine for free. SpaceX had spent millions of dollars sending Starlink terminals to Ukraine, Musk told Isaacson. In June, Bloomberg reported that SpaceX had won a deal with the Pentagon for it to pay for the satellite service in Ukraine. "Starlink was not meant to be involved in wars," Isaacson said Musk told him.

But the episode reveals the unique position Musk found himself in as the war in Ukraine unfolded. Even as cellular phone and internet networks had been destroyed, the Starlink terminals allowed Ukraine to fight and stay connected. But once Ukraine began to use Starlink terminals for offensive attacks against Russia, Musk started to second-guess that decision. “How am I in this war?” Musk asks Isaacson. SpaceX had spent tens of millions of its own money sending the satellite equipment to Ukraine, according to Musk.

Amy Williamson, an attorney who represents dozens of current and former Arias agents in civil claims, said she received an inquiry from a US attorney's office. Lusty asked questions about Russin's campaign of aggressive social-media posts since Zinsky filed suit, Williamson said, including posts about his gun purchases. While live-in landlords are far from a novel concept, the pandemic-era fever around passive income and real-estate investing has sparked a rise in the popularity of house hacking. While Turner's initial strategy emphasized small multifamily buildings, some house hackers applied the concept to single-family homes. In 2019, he published a book called "The House Hacking Strategy: How to Use Your Home to Achieve Financial Freedom." And I think house hacking is one obvious way to eliminate, or at least drastically reduce, what likely is your largest expense." "Yeah, it's called 'house hacking," the owner and roommate, also played by Jarman, who has 4 million followers, replies.

CNN —Poetry, prose and now songwriting: Ghent University in Belgium is launching a new literature course dedicated to the literary merit of Taylor Swift’s discography. “Highly prolific and autobiographical in her songwriting, Swift makes frequent allusions to canonical literary texts in her music,” the class syllabus explains. “Using Swift’s work as a springboard, we will explore, among other topics, literary feminism, ecocriticism, fan studies, and tropes such as the anti-hero. In 2016, the University of Texas launched an English Literature course unpacking Beyoncé’s visual album “Lemonade” and its relationship to Black feminism. “But if anyone can teach you a lesson in how to respond to trolls, it’s Taylor Swift,” she concluded.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump addresses The Faith and Freedom Coalition's 2023 "Road to Majority" conference in Washington, U.S., June 24, 2023. A spokesman for the Department of Justice declined to comment on Trump's latest broadside against Smith, who was tapped last year to lead multiple criminal investigations involving the former president. Trump indicates that the document has to do with a plan of attack on Iran. Trump's attacks on Smith fit the pattern and style that the former president has employed against many of his other legal and political foes. Ahead of that court appearance in Manhattan, Trump targeted the presiding judge, Juan Merchan, accusing him and his family of being "Trump haters."

You may think Apple's new headset is ridiculous, but you should cheer the company anyway. Innovation is expensive, difficult, and risky — and the only way to create a better future. And I don't think creating "eyes" on the outside of my goggles to make me look friendlier is going to change that. I do think there are certain communities and applications that might see fast adoption of Apple's goggles — gaming, for example. So I'm not ready to write off Apple's goggles yet.

The first time I tasted changua, a dairy-rich Colombian soup, my wife, Adri, a Bogotana from the heart of changua country, grimaced as I swirled the golden yolk of a poached egg through some half-melted cheese. She pulled a sour face as I sopped up the milky broth, seasoned with cilantro and green onions, with a chunk of bread. She pretended, I think, to suppress a gag as I ate it and continued until I finished. Changua, an Andean soup of Muisca origin, has a divided audience in its home departments of Cundinamarca and Boyacá. (An informal poll I took in the group chat I share with my Colombian in-laws showed a near-perfect split between changua lovers and haters, as did a poll I took on Instagram.)
The NY judge handling Donald Trump's criminal case has gotten death threats, a source said. New York Supreme Justice Juan Merchan has received multiple threats over the last week, said the source. Trump targeted Merchan and his family in verbal and online attacks on the day of his Tuesday arraignment. A spokesman for New York's Office of Court Administration told Insider in a statement on Thursday that there continues to be a beefed up security presence "in and around" state courthouses. A spokesperson for Trump's 2024 presidential campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment by Insider on Thursday.
