But when you pay rent, "you're not throwing money away," Sethi tells CNBC Make It. When looking at homes as an investment, renters commonly overlook the "phantom costs" of owning a property beyond the monthly mortgage payment. "People say they don't want to throw money away on rent," Sethi says. "I've made more money renting than I would have owning," he says, referring to investments made with money that could have been spent on a down payment and phantom costs for units similar to the ones he rented. Considering that home values have increased by 85% since 2010, many Americans have built wealth by owning a home.

London CNN —An art historian has identified a missing portrait of King Henry VIII after spotting it on social media. It showed a gathering at a reception in Warwick’s Shire Hall, where Warwickshire County Council is based. The distinctive frame was one of the features that helped identify the painting as the missing portrait of Henry VIII. His focus was on the background where, hanging on a wall, was what he suspected was a missing portrait of the Tudor monarch Henry VIII. In a telephone call with CNN, Busiakiewicz revealed that this was not the first discovery he had made thanks to social media.

But the mercurial billionaire was once a skeptic — and very vocal about why he thought Trump shouldn't govern the US. Back in July 2022, Musk criticized Trump after the former president called him a "bullshit artist" during a rally in Alaska. Musk later said in a follow-up post the same day that having Trump as president would result in "too much drama." Musk would go on to host DeSantis' campaign launch on X in May 2023, which was riddled with technical glitches and delays. The Democrats had been headed for a "landslide defeat" in November, but now, they stand a chance, said Ian Bremmer, President and Founder of Eurasia Group. "They've turned [this race] around, and President Biden has given the Democrats a fighting chance," he told CNBC's "Squawk Box Asia" on Monday. How Harris helps DemocratsAccording to experts that spoke to CNBC, Harris comes with a number of advantages in comparison to her former running mate. A recent poll showed that some 85% of the population believed Biden was too old to serve another four years. Big Andreesen (meaning the current bloated billionaire model) also contradicts Little Andreessen (the earlier, leaner blogger) on the issue of regulation. The reason, he now claims, is that government used to leave Silicon Valley alone. He and his fellow Silicon Valley investor-class billionaires have been sliding rightward for years.
