WARSAW (Reuters) - Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy awarded two Polish volunteers state awards during a stopover on Saturday, but did not meet any officials as relations between the two countries are strained over grain imports. Poland decided last week to extend a ban on Ukrainian grain imports, shaking Kyiv's relationship with a neighbour that has been one of its staunchest allies since Russia invaded Ukraine in February last year. Poland's prime minister told Zelenskiy on Friday not to "insult" Poles, maintaining harsh rhetoric towards Kyiv ahead of elections on October 15. Zelenskiy thanked all Poles who "from the first days opened their families, their homes, opened themselves up and helped". One of the award recipients, Duda, told Reuters that Zelenskiy was very informal at the meeting like an old friend.

Eight minutes from time Szczesny inadvertently parried a rebound into the path of Andrea Pinamont, who headed home to make it 3-2 to Sassuolo. Juve had first equalised after 21 minutes when Sassuolo defender Matias Vina inadvertently poked the ball into his own net from close range while attempting to clear a cross. Sassuolo had a chance to make it 3-1 around the hour mark, but Lauriente fired over the bar from close range. Chiesa then levelled for the visitors in the 78th with a deflected shot before Sassuolo struck twice to take the points. In the post-match press conference, Allegri reaffirmed Szczesny as his starting goalkeeper but hinted at unspecified changes for the upcoming match.

REUTERS/Angus Mordant/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNEW YORK, Sept 19 (Reuters) - A federal judge on Tuesday said DoorDash (DASH.N), Grubhub (TKWY.AS) and Uber Eats (UBER.N) can sue New York City over a law capping how much they can charge restaurants for delivering meals. "Good news from New York City," CEO of Grubhub's parent company Just Eat Takeaway, Jitse Groen, wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. Woods said the plaintiffs adequately alleged that the law unconstitutionally interfered with their ability to collect higher commissions under their contracts with restaurants. The plaintiffs have said commission caps would necessitate higher delivery fees, resulting in higher prices for consumers and less revenue for restaurants. MILAN, Sept 12 (Reuters) - Italy's Davide Frattesi struck twice for a 2-1 win over Ukraine in their Euro 2024 Group C qualifier on Tuesday to provide new manager Luciano Spalletti with a promising start on home soil. Italy were held to a 1-1 draw away to North Macedonia on Saturday in Spalletti's debut match so the pressure was on the former Napoli coach to deliver at San Siro. Italy are now second in the standings on seven points ahead of Ukraine on goal difference and with a game in hand on all their group rivals. "There was a lot of pressure in recent weeks, and I had to understand many things in a short time," Spalletti told RAI. Just before the half-hour mark Frattesi got his second goal by calmly slotting home once again from close range, capitalising on a ricocheted shot.

Sept 13 (Reuters) - England manager Gareth Southgate defended Harry Maguire after Scotland fans sarcastically mocked the defender, who scored an own goal in a friendly on Tuesday which England won 3-1 at Hampden Park. The Manchester United defender inadvertently handed Scotland a lifeline by clumsily prodding a low cross into his own net in the 67th minute. "There has been ridiculous treatment of him for a long period of time, frankly," Southgate said after the match. The 30-year-old Maguire was stripped of the captaincy by his club Manchester United in July and has struggled for first-team football at Old Trafford. Nonetheless, Southgate underlined his importance for England, with the centre back having featured in all of their Euro 2024 qualifying matches.

Germany charges 98-year-old former Nazi camp guard

Berlin CNN —A 98-year-old former Nazi concentration guard has been indicted on charges of aiding and abetting the murder of more than 3,300 people during the Holocaust, German authorities said on Friday. The public prosecutor in the western city of Giessen, near Frankfurt, said in a statement that the man worked at the Sachsenhausen concentration camp between 1943 and 1945. Germany is racing against time to bring the last surviving perpetrators of Nazi war crimes – now well into old age – to justice. Of the roughly 200,000 prisoners who passed through the camp, around 100,000 are thought to have died there. An estimated 6 million Jews were killed in Nazi concentration camps during World War II.
