The longtime CEO of Berkshire Hathaway's Brooks Running, Jim Weber, is stepping down after more than 20 years in the top job, the company will announce Tuesday. Brooks veteran Dan Sheridan, who started at the running company in a marketing role in 1998 and worked his way up to chief operating officer and president, will take over on April 26. That includes plans to build the first Brooks Running store in China, an "absolute growth market" for the brand, according to Sheridan. He said the company also aims to expand direct sales in the U.S. and grow wholesale partnerships in Europe. Soon after Brooks Running became a stand-alone subsidiary company of Berkshire Hathaway in 2012, Weber and his team were asked to start succession planning.

Abercrombie & Fitch said Wednesday that its holiday-quarter sales jumped 21% and its profits grew thanks to higher prices and lower raw material costs. For the current quarter, Abercrombie expects sales to rise by a low double digit percentage, compared to estimates of up 7.2%, according to LSEG. During the quarter, comparable sales grew 16% and gross margin came in at 62.9%, 7.2 percentage points higher than the year ago period. "Our strong fourth quarter was fueled by sales growth across regions and brands. Birkenstock on Thursday beat holiday quarter revenue expectations, reporting a 26% year-on-year jump, as the German sandal company benefited from higher pricing and rising U.S. demand. Adjusted earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose 12% year-on-year to 81 million euros, with an adjusted EBITDA margin of 26.9%, down from 29.1% a year earlier. "However, in the medium-term, we are confident we will continue to deliver our objectives of a gross profit margin over 60% and an adjusted EBITDA margin in the low thirties percent." Within a few years, its sales nearly doubled and its market cap is now around $9.7 billion, double its 2021 valuation of $4.85 billion. TJX Cos. on Wednesday said holiday sales jumped 13% as shoppers hunting for deals flocked to the off-price retailer. Excluding an additional week in the quarter, TJX reported earnings per share of $1.12. Sales rose to $16.41 billion, up about 13% from $14.52 billion a year earlier. Over the last year, it raised its sales and profit guidance numerous times. For the full year, it expects earnings per share of $3.94 to $4.02, compared to estimates of $3.88 to $4.40.

The CEO of AT&T on Sunday apologized for the widespread cellular outage that knocked out service for thousands of customers, saying some accounts will receive credits to compensate for the incident. "For the portion of consumer and small business customers most impacted by the outage, we are automatically applying an account credit to compensate them for the inconvenience they experienced," Chief Executive John Stankey wrote in a letter to employees. Early Thursday, tens of thousands of AT&T customers across the U.S. reported widespread service outages and were unable to use their phones without access to WiFi. Once the company realized there was an outage, it prioritized restoring service to first responders and reconnected remaining customers throughout the day. Stankey thanked staff for their efforts in handling customer complaints, communicating information about the outage and restoring service.

Nike is cutting 2% of its current workforce, or more than 1,500 jobs, as part of a broader restructuring, the company said late Thursday. Cuts in Nike's EMEA region will be on a different timeline based on local labor laws, the company said. In December, Nike unveiled a broad restructuring plan to cut costs by about $2 billion over the next three years. Shortly before the restructuring was announced, The Oregonian reported that Nike had been quietly laying off employees over the past several weeks and had signaled that it was planning for a broader restructuring. It's not clear how many jobs in total Nike has cut since December.

The hedge fund that owns True Religion is exploring a sale of the Y2K-era jeans brand as it returns to growth and profitability after emerging from its second bankruptcy, CNBC has learned. It's unclear what valuation True Religion is seeking, but it could sell for a mid single digit multiple of its EBITDA, the people said. Farmstead Capital Management, True Religion's owner, has hired Baird to run the sale process. True Religion went public in 2003 and made headlines for its growth and profits. Buckley, who helmed the company during its 2000s heyday and returned in 2019, has transformed True Religion into a leaner machine.

Under Armour said Thursday that its holiday-quarter sales slowed, but its earnings beat estimates as the athletic apparel retailer worked to rein in costs. Under Armour now anticipates full-year sales will decline slightly more than it previously expected. During the quarter, Under Armour's wholesale revenue, which accounts for about 60% of sales, dropped 13% to $712 million. Like its peers, Under Armour has been working to expand its sales directly to consumers through its stores and website. During the quarter, Under Armour saw those direct sales rise 4% to $741 million, driven by a 5% uptick in store revenue and a 2% jump in digital sales.

Lululemon is launching its first men's footwear line and casual sneaker as the retailer looks for new avenues of growth in the increasingly crowded athletic apparel space, the company announced Thursday. The retailer is debuting its first casual sneaker, dubbed "cityverse," along with two new running shoes that will all come in both men's and women's styles for the first time. Cityverse will launch Feb. 13, while the new running models will debut in March and May. Lululemon's foray into men's footwear is part of a larger strategy the company announced in April 2022 to double its men's business and grow revenue to $12.5 billion by 2026. Still, the launch is just "icing on the cake and a bonus" for Lululemon because the company's growth strategy "isn't reliant on footwear," said Neuburger.

Adidas announced on Wednesday that it won't write off the majority of its unsold Yeezy inventory and instead plans to sell the remaining shoes "at least" at the cost it paid for them, as the apparel retailer looks to recoup its losses.
