Madix plays Roxie Hart, a woman facing trial for the murder of her lover. After the year she's had, Madix's role as the woman scorned is a delightful piece of stunt casting. Madix, the 38-year-old "Vanderpump Rules" star and "Dancing with the Stars" contestant, made her Broadway debut in January as the murderous Roxie Hart in "Chicago." In much the same way as Hart, Madix has had her own ascent to fame — which makes her performance in "Chicago" a delightful, over-the-top example of revenge success. Madix recently extended her limited run as Roxie Hart in "Chicago" and will now be performing the role through April 7.

CNN —Turns out Taylor Swift was spot on naming her forthcoming album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”The company Ancestory, which helps people trace their genealogy, has found evidence that Swift is distantly related to the famed poet Emily Dickinson. “We need to calm down…but how can we when we have BIG news! “Renowned American poets Taylor Swift and Emily Dickinson are 6th cousins, three times removed.”CNN has reached out to Swift’s representative for comment. Her album “Evermore” was announced in 2020 on December 10, which happens to be Dickinson’s birthday. “If my lyrics sound like a letter written by Emily Dickinson’s great-grandmother while sewing a lace curtain, that’s me writing in the quill genre,” Swift said, noting that her single “Ivy” from “Evermore” would fall under that category.

There’s much we don’t know about why Nex Benedict, a nonbinary teenager in Owasso, Okla., died a day after a fight in a high school bathroom. We know that 16-year-old Nex, who often went by they/them pronouns with peers, was bullied at school. We know that Nex didn’t report the recent encounters to teachers or school officials. We know that Nex responded to the harassment by pouring water on the students, but we also know the bathroom fight didn’t appear to be an even match. The family’s attorney stated that the teen was “attacked and assaulted in a bathroom by a group of other students.” Nex collapsed at home the next day.

CNN —A 16-year-old student died following a fight at an Oklahoma high school – and as an investigation into the cause of death continues, advocates point to a heightened and hostile climate against the LGBTQ+ community. Nex Benedict, whose family says identified as nonbinary, died February 8, one day after they told their family they and a transgender student were involved in a fight with others at Owasso High School. It is not clear if or how the fight contributed to Nex’s death. An Owasso school resource officer went to Bailey Medical Center, where Nex was examined, and interviewed both Nex and their parent about the incident. Nex’s death comes after advocates have strongly criticized Oklahoma officials for actions perceived as targeting LGBTQ+ residents.

CNN —The academic publisher Sage Publications has retracted studies used by a Texas judge in a ruling that would suspend federal approval of the abortion pill mifepristone. The 2021 study concluded that ER visits were more likely after a medication abortion rather than a surgical abortion. Kacsmaryk cited this study to suggest that the number of adverse events from medication abortion drugs is probably under-reported. The US Supreme Court will hear arguments in March about mifepristone, one of two drugs commonly used in the US for a medication abortion. Medication abortion is the most common form of abortion in the US, and multiple peer-reviewed studies have shown that it is highly safe and effective.

A medical journal has retracted two studies claiming to show the harms of the abortion pill mifepristone, citing conflicts of interest by the authors and flaws in their research. Two of the three studies retracted by medical publisher Sage Perspectives were cited in a pivotal Texas court ruling that has threatened access to the pill. The U.S. Supreme Court will take up the case next month, with a decision expected later this year. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Extreme heat and wildfire smoke are independently harmful to the human body, but together their impact on cardiovascular and respiratory systems is more dangerous and affects some communities more than others. A study published Friday in the journal Science Advances said climate change is increasing the frequency of both hazards, particularly in California. The authors found that the combined harm of extreme heat and inhalation of wildfire smoke increased hospitalizations and disproportionately impacted low-income communities and Latino, Black, Asian and other racially marginalized residents. Homes and work places with air conditioning and neighborhoods with tree canopy cover are better protected from extreme heat, and some buildings filter smoke from wildfires and insulate heat more efficiently. “For a variety of reason, they tend to feel climate change much worse than other non-underserved communities, and I think it's really important to highlight this social injustice aspect of climate change,” said the emergency physician and fellow at the Harvard T.H.

The U.S. population is getting older and per capita health care spending has been rising — other than the pandemic blip — very steadily for half a century. We'll detail a simple trade on a resilient health care industry stock that stands to benefit from that long-term trend. Becton Dickinson (BDX) has a large array of healthcare products and consequently doesn't exhibit the volatility that some other health care companies have like biotech. Unsurprisingly, when we look at the health care sector, we also see consistent long-term growth. Heart failure typically occurs as a result of another health condition, such as a heart attack, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, or heart rhythm and valve abnormalities. Smoking, being overweight, eating foods high in fat and cholesterol, and living a sedentary lifestyle can contribute to heart failure because they increase the risk of developing heart conditions associated with it. Dancy is part of The American Heart Association's Go Red for Women Class of Survivors 2024. Although heart failure most commonly affects older people, it can happen at any age , as evidenced by Dancy's case. Olema Oncology could be a standout player in developing therapies for women's cancers, particularly in breast cancer, according to Citi Research. The stock was flat in trading on Tuesday, but has fallen more than 16% so far this year. Last year, Olema shares soared more than 470% as the company released a series of positive updates, particularly about its lead investigational oncology drug palazestrant , Nochomovitz said. "We believe palazestrant has emerged as a highly promising CERAN/SERD with opportunities across multiple lines of ER+ breast cancer," Nochomovitz wrote in a Tuesday note.
