In a video shared to the couple’s Instagram pages on Sunday, Barker is seen sitting at his drum set with Kardashian proudly showing off her baby bump while sitting on his lap at what appeared to be a backyard gender reveal party. Barker provided a drumroll seconds before the big reveal, and the couple embraced with a kiss when blue confetti shot out to reveal they’re expecting a baby boy. Kardashian shares three children – Mason, Penelope and Reign – with her former longtime partner Scott Disick. Concision — that was the word to come to mind after eight surprising days in this men’s wear capital, and in Florence. Did some unseen force take a blue pencil to all the slack narratives, rehashed inspirations, derivative references that prevailed in recent seasons? Suddenly everything seemed crisp and focused, like early Hemingway after he’d learned how to do Gertrude Stein. You could follow the lead of Pierpaolo Piccioli at Valentino, showing his first men’s wear collection in three years. Not coincidentally, the significant design gesture was the designer’s decision to emblazon some of the apparel and many accessories with text.

REUTERS/Claudia GrecoMILAN, June 16 (Reuters) - Italian luxury house Valentino kicked off Milan Fashion Week's menswear shows on Friday with a lineup combining blazers and coats with shorts, as creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli sought to redefine the meaning of the masculine identity. Valentino, which is controlled by Qatari investment vehicle Mayhoola, presented its menswear collection for spring and summer 2024 in the arched courtyard of Milan's state university. Valentino ditched the co-ed show model - the mixing of men's and women's shows - which it had adopted for the last three years and returned to Milan, where founder Valentino Garavani staged the first Valentino menswear show in 1985. Milan Fashion Week includes 72 events and presentations of menswear collections.

[1/2] A BMW booth is pictured at the Auto Shanghai show, in Shanghai, China, April 19, 2023. REUTERS/Aly SongSHANGHAI, April 20 (Reuters) - Chinese internet users berated German automaker BMW (BMWG.DE) on Thursday, accusing it of discrimination at the Shanghai auto show amid claims workers at its Mini booth favoured foreign over domestic visitors during an ice cream giveaway promotion. The controversy comes as BMW and fellow German automakers participate in the Shanghai auto show in full force as they fight to stay on top of consumer trends in a country where domestic rivals have been aggressively taking market share. One video showed two Chinese workers telling some local visitors to the Mini stand that the free ice cream had run out, only to offer a tub moments later to a Western attendee. "This has taken away my good feelings towards BMW," said one Weibo commentator.

Amancio Ortega set up the first Zara store in A Coruna in the north west of Spain in 1975. Marta Ortega started from the bottom at Inditex, stacking shelves at a Bershka store when she was 23. Ortega, whose father owns 59.3% of Inditex, has mainly worked in the background, leaving the spotlight to the CEO. "We feel that Marta Ortega has repositioned Zara slightly upwards," said Patricia Cifuentes, analyst at the investment banking arm of Spanish investment firm Bestinver. "Reinforcing that Zara sells fashion, not just clothes, has allowed Inditex to increase prices and protect the margins amidst the inflationary storm."

At the fall/winter collections in Milan, where much of the world’s luxury fashion is marketed, money was on everyone’s minds. Will the luxury industry contract along with the economy—or will it manage to churn out clothing that is recession-proof? But in other ways, fashion is an island. With prices at luxury brands rising in recent years—some, like Chanel, eye-poppingly so—the resilience in demand makes fashion feel a world apart from economic anxieties. “We haven’t encountered any resistance yet” said one luxury executive that I spoke with about raising prices.

Lands' End's baby-boomer shoppers are among the most loyal of any brand, but they are aging. Sales fell when the company tried to attract millennials in 2015 with a move into party dresses and heels. In recent years Lands' End has made a concerted effort to reach oft-overlooked Gen X shoppers. Within just one year Lands' End swung from a $9.2 million profit to a $7.7 million loss and customers were abandoning the brand. "Seventy-five percent of them either never shopped at Lands' End, or are lapsed customers and haven't shopped at Lands' End for five years.

Dolce & Gabbana and other businesses that cater to the well-off might be in for disappointment. Economic downturns are usually horrible for poor people, bad for the middle class and an inconvenience for the rich. But if the economy enters a recession in 2023, or even if it manages to narrowly evade one, it might be the well-heeled who take a bigger hit than usual. Call it the richcession.
