Jackson, 37, is a wind turbine service technician at Vestas, a wind turbine manufacturer, in Bee County, Texas, and earns $73,000 per year. Wind turbine technicians face one of the highest rates of work-related injuries, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Despite the high demand for wind turbine service technicians, the profession remains "underrated and overlooked," she adds, offering untapped potential for job-seekers who crave adventure and a competitive salary. While you don't need a bachelor's degree to become a wind turbine service technician, some jobs might require you to complete a 2-year technical program or apprenticeship. Before becoming a wind technician, Jackson, who has four children, spent a decade as a stay-at-home mom.

Congress has historically valued the stealth fighter flown by three military branches despite its problems. His comments suggest he could be eyeing the $2 trillion F-35 program, and possibly other fighter jets, for potential spending cuts. In fact, the House's defense spending bill for the 2025 fiscal year called for more F-35s than what the Pentagon initially requested.

An animal rights extremist believed to be behind a pair of bombings in Northern California over two decades ago was caught in Wales on Monday, authorities said. FBI Director Christopher Wray celebrated the capture of Daniel Andreas San Diego, 46, saying on Tuesday the suspect will finally be held "accountable" for his alleged acts of "violence and destruction." He's also accused of sending a "bomb strapped with nails" that went off at a nutritional company, Shaklee Corp., in nearby Pleasanton, on Sept. 26, 2003. The FBI believed that San Diego, who was born in Berkeley, bombed the firms because they had worked with another lab that had conducted animals experiments. “There’s a right way and a wrong way to express your views in our country, and turning to violence and destruction of property is not the right way," Wray added.

That means buyers can combine existing tax credits with the deep discounts on offer over the next three months. Hours after Newsom announced his proposal Monday, Bloomberg News reported that his office planned to exclude Teslas from any state rebate program, citing an idea to limit the proposed aid based on automakers’ EV market shares. The current federal tax credit also applies to leases, and some dealerships are exploiting a loophole that allows EV lessees to qualify for the full $7,500 credit without meeting income or manufacturer requirements. In a recent Edmunds analysis of mid-priced vehicles leased this year, the average monthly payment for EVs when factoring in tax credits was $428, far lower than the $572 for vehicles with gas engines. “If the tax credit goes away and it’s a significant amount that’s being utilized by dealers, you’ll have them rather upset for a while,” Drury said.

BOSTON — A Massachusetts man pleaded guilty on Monday to charges that he threatened to kill Jews and bomb a synagogue in a case that U.S. prosecutors said reflected a growing nationwide torrent of antisemitism after the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza began last year. John Reardon, during a hearing in Boston federal court, pleaded guilty to threatening to bomb the Congregation Agudas Achim and threatening to kill children in a voicemail he left with the Attleboro, Massachusetts-based synagogue in January. Israel’s 13-month campaign in Gaza has killed more than 44,000 people and displaced nearly all the enclave’s population at least once, according to Gaza officials. In many of those calls, he made harassing or intimidating statements, prosecutors said. As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors have agreed to recommend that Reardon, of Millis, Massachusetts, be sentenced to up to 2-1/2 years in prison.

MANILA, the Philippines — Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. vowed Monday to fight back against what he called reckless and troubling threats against him, speaking out after his estranged vice president said he would be assassinated if she herself were killed. “If planning the assassination of the president is that easy, how much more for ordinary citizens?” he said. Sara Duterte told reporters she had yet to hear the president’s statement but she recalled the 1983 assassination of former Senator Benigno Aquino, for which she blamed the Marcos family, without giving proof. “The whole nation fought back when their family killed Benigno Aquino Jr.,” Duterte told reporters. Rodrigo Duterte told the hearings that he was solely responsible for the bloody crackdown and has urged the ICC to “hurry up” with its investigation.

Human remains were found submerged in a Georgia pond inside a vehicle similar to the one that belonged to a New York Couple who disappeared in 1980, authorities announced. One human bone was discovered in the submerged Lincoln Continental on Friday, according to a Saturday statement from the Glynn County Police Department. “The vehicle is similar to the description of a vehicle that Charles and Catherine Romer were believed to be driving when reported missing in April, 1980,” the police department said in a Facebook post. Law enforcement back then expressed concerns about potential foul play against the couple from Scarsdale, New York, partly because Catherine Romer was wearing about $81,000 worth of jewelry. The pond was being drained, police said, to determine if there are additional remains.

At a time when most Federal Reserve officials see lower interest rates head, a key report on Wednesday is expected to show inflation drifting further away from target. The Commerce Department will release the October look at its personal consumption expenditures price index, the Fed's primary yardstick to measure the pace of price increases. "Recent data show progress on inflation has slowed," Brett Ryan, senior U.S. economist at Deutsche Bank, said in a note. "Recent wage data shows gains remain elevated and suggests core inflation is unlikely to cool near the Fed's 2% target," BlackRock experts said Monday in their weekly market note. "Markets have been pricing out Fed rate cuts — and moving closer to our view — as it becomes clearer that inflation pressures could prove persistent."

Last week, the Justice Department and a group of states presented the judge with a plethora of proposed remedies. It would also be barred from making itself the default search engine on its own products and disallowed from preferring its own products in search results. The test for a successful remedy is whether the market becomes more competitive, with higher output or a better experience for consumers. At this point, the Justice Department has not sufficiently explained why its proposed actions are an appropriate remedy. Some of the proposals were not addressed at any length in the judge’s opinion in the Google trial at all.

Greg Abbott challenged President Joe Biden at almost every turn on the handling of the US southern border, as the state grappled with multiple border surges. Abbott described the upcoming border actions as a coordinated effort between border states and Washington. Texas officials and federal officials have historically worked together on the US-Mexico border. Texas state officials tout the work of their operation, arguing it served as a deterrent, and federal officials cite Biden’s executive action that levied harsher consequences for border crossers. “Texas has really been a lab for how mass round-ups of immigrants would work and how you can practically do it,” said Kristin Etter, the director of policy and legal Services at the Texas Immigration Law Council.
