As S&P approaches 5,000, this one trend has been unwavering

It's been a bumpy road from 4,000 to 5,000, but the overall trend stays with big cap tech. Talk about timing: It launched just as the S & P 500 was recovering from the banking crisis, and MAGS has been one of the star ETF performers of the last year. A bumpy road from 4,000 to 5,000 The S & P 500 had been comfortably over 4,000 from mid-2021 into mid-2022, when rising rates pushed the broad index below 4,000. This is true not just this year, but since the S & P went over 4,000 at the end of March, as has international investing. If you own the S & P 500, which has become tech-dominant, you are happy.

(AP) — Conservative lawmakers who want to intertwine religion with school curriculum in Republican-dominated Nebraska presented a slew of bills Monday to the state Legislature’s education committee. Another measure would change school funding to loop in private school tuition while forbidding the state from interfering in private schools’ curriculum or beliefs. The bill introduced last year was among those that stalled as conservatives focused on passing a bill to allow taxpayer money to be used to fund private school scholarships. Others argued Erdman’s bill would hurt funding for rural school districts like his own, which has fewer than 350 students. Under the bill, out-of-state teachers could gain Nebraska certification by taking a knowledge-testing exam they must pass.

He also holds up to $2.2 million in something called a "dynasty trust." Somewhere between $1.1 million and $2.25 million are held in an account called "David H McCormick 2020 Dynasty Trust." In Pennsylvania — where McCormick owns a home and is running for Senate — dynasty trusts can last forever. $37,000 on private jet flights in recent monthsBeyond the dynasty trust, there are other aspects of McCormick's wealth that raise eyebrows.

The Associated Press recently spoke to Ridley about finding Fran, reprising her role as Rey in a new “Star Wars” film, and perfecting her death stare. RIDLEY: I loved the world and I loved the office but, actually, a lot of that was improvised. It’s going to be so strange because I’m not going to be the baby anymore. While 30-year mortgage rates have come down by more than a full percent to around 6.6%, they're still significantly more elevated than their 2021 low of less than 3%. Lower mortgage rates mean higher cash flows and a higher likelihood for appreciation, which is good for strategies like flipping. But there are ways for real-estate investors to get around higher rates, Meyer says. This means asking the seller if they can provide a cash payment that effectively lowers mortgage rates for the first few years of ownership. Given that rising mortgage rates have largely killed demand in the housing market, buyers have had more success recently getting deal-sweeteners like rate-buydowns, according to research from Redfin.

Home-price appreciation has also slowed — and in many cities turned negative — making strategies like flipping much less viable. 4 ways to build wealth in today's marketIn an interview with Business Insider on Wednesday, Meyer listed four strategies real-estate investors should consider at the moment. With rates high and deals harder to find in the market, investors could find returns by lending out their own money to other investors. JetBlue is the country’s sixth-largest carrier, and Spirit ranks seventh. Photo: Wilfredo Lee/Associated PressA federal judge on Tuesday blocked JetBlue Airways from acquiring Spirit Airlines , agreeing with the Justice Department that the $3.8 billion deal would eliminate a competitor important to price-conscious travelers. The Justice Department said JetBlue’s purchase of Spirit would remove an ultra-low-cost carrier that benefits travelers and puts pressure on other airlines to keep down fares. Removing Spirit as a rival would free JetBlue to raise prices by as much as 30%, the government said. JetBlue is the country’s sixth-largest carrier, and Spirit ranks seventh.
