A data center. The industry is about to be hit with a "wave of data tsunami," said Merima Dzanic, head of strategy and operations at the Danish Data Center Industry Association. A "whole different approach to how we build, design and operate data centers," is required, Dzanic added. Eco launchASCEND's goal was to explore the potential and comparative environmental impact of space-based data centers to aid Europe in becoming carbon-neutral by 2050. Yet Dzanic warned the somewhat "fringe" idea of space-based data centers doesn't fully solve the issue of sustainable energy usage.

And they were everywhere, although, naturally, New York City was a magnet, as it has always been for L.G.B.T.Q.+ people looking for a place in which they can be themselves. New York City was where you lost your soul, and we wanted to be closer to the earth. I wore an eight-and-a-half-foot-tall Statue of Liberty costume to the Easter Parade in New York City, and Kirsten came along with me. By the time I turned 30, I’d been telling people I was older for years, because I’m not the type to bemoan the loss of my youth. Going to New York felt like this moment of emerging to a wider audience, and then I started to travel a lot.

London CNN —Dairy farmers in Denmark face having to pay an annual tax of 672 krone ($96) per cow for the planet-heating emissions they generate. The country’s coalition government agreed this week to introduce the world’s first carbon emissions tax on agriculture. On average, Danish dairy cows, which account for much of the cattle population, emit 5.6 tonnes of CO2-equivalent per year, according to Concito, a green think tank in Denmark. Using the lower tax rate of 120 krone results in a charge of 672 krone per cow, or $96. With the tax break in place, that levy will rise to 1,680 krone per cow in 2035 ($241).

Vials on the Wegovy line at the Novo Nordisk A/S production facilities in Hillerod, Denmark, on Friday, March 8, 2024. LONDON — Shares of Denmark's Zealand Pharma popped nearly 23% in Friday morning deals, notching a record high after an early-stage study of its weight loss drug challenger produced positive results. Petrelintide was "judged to be safe and well tolerated at all dose levels" and the results provided "robust support" for its potential as an alternative to GLP-1 receptor agonist-based therapies for weight management, Zealand Pharma said in a release. GLP-1RA-based treatments include Ozempic, the diabetes drug produced by fellow Danish pharmaceutical firm Novo Nordisk , which has exploded in popularity globally for its weight-loss effects. Soaring demand for Ozempic and obesity drug Wegovy have propelled Novo Nordisk to become Europe's most valuable company.

Carlsberg shares were on course for their largest single-day decline in more than four years on Friday, after the British soft drinks maker Britvic said it had rejected the Danish brewer's £3.11 billion ($3.9 billion) takeover proposal. This is the company's largest single-day share drop since March 12, 2020, when stock fell 8.77%. Earlier in the session, Britvic announced it had on June 17 refused an improved cash takeover bid from Carlsberg offering 1,250 pence per share of the British soft drinks maker. This was Carlsberg's second bid, after its June 6 offer price of 1,200 pence per Britvic share was also declined. Carlsberg confirmed the rejection of its second proposal, which it qualified as "a compelling opportunity for Britvic shareholders to realise their investment in full in cash at an attractive valuation."

London CNN —Leading shipping groups have urged governments “with influence” to put a stop to Houthi attacks on vessels in the Red Sea after a second freighter sank this week. The latest sinking is likely to have led to another death, according to a statement Wednesday from more than a dozen shipping associations, including the International Chamber of Shipping and the World Shipping Council. The longer diversion around the southern tip of Africa has sent shipping costs soaring and is causing congestion at ports in Asia and Europe, threatening to scramble global supply chains. We call for states with influence in the region to safeguard our innocent seafarers and for the swift de-escalation of the situation in the Red Sea,” they added. “Houthi attacks continue to make the Red Sea unsafe, and increases in charter activity and rates indicate carriers expect congestion to remain a factor for some time,” he added.

CNN —Christian Eriksen scored Denmark’s opening goal at Euro 2024 against Slovenia - and it’s one that will likely feel extra special. Just three years ago, Eriksen collapsed on the pitch after suffering cardiac arrest during Denmark’s group match against Finland at Euro 2020, which was delayed by a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Danish captain received life-saving treatment on the pitch, eventually being resuscitated and taken to hospital. The image of Eriksen celebrating his goal – a huge grin plastered across his face – was in stark contrast to the distressing scenes at Euro 2020. Hong Kong/Seoul CNN —Three varieties of “fire chicken” instant ramen noodles popularized by a viral internet challenge have been recalled in Denmark after they were deemed to be too spicy. The level of capsaicin found in Buldak Hot Chicken Ramen 3x Spicy, Buldak Hot Chicken Ramen 2x Spicy and Hot Chicken Stew was so high that it could poison consumers, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration said in a statement issued Tuesday. South Korean noodle giant Samyang, which developed the ramen, said on Wednesday that the products were not being recalled because of quality issues. Buldak, which means “fire chicken” in Korean, was developed by Samyang’s chief executive, Kim Jung-soo, a housewife who married into the family business and eventually took over. According to taste testers, the original buldak ramen scored around 4,000 on the Scoville scale, which is roughly equivalent to the heat of jalapeños.
