CLEVELAND — Deshaun Watson has been accused of sexual assault in a new civil lawsuit brought by a woman who alleges the Cleveland Browns quarterback forced himself on her four years ago when he played with Houston. According to the lawsuit filed Monday in Harris County, the woman is suing Watson for $1 million in damages. The woman, identified only as Jane Doe in the court documents, said the incident took place after she invited Watson to her apartment. The 28-year-old Watson served an 11-game NFL suspension in 2022 for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, stemming from those accusations. Watson has been limited to just 13 starts due to the suspension and a shoulder injury that required surgery last season.

The Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott have agreed to a four-year, $240 million contract that will make him the highest-paid player in NFL history, according to multiple reports. The long, drawn-out negotiation ended with him earning the biggest contract in league history, valued at $60 million a season. Last season, Prescott set career highs in completions (410) and touchdowns (36), throwing for 4,516 yards with only nine interceptions. He led Dallas to a 12-5 record, but the Cowboys lost at home in the first round of the playoffs to the Green Bay Packers. The Cowboys are the most profitable in the NFL, posting EBITDA of $550 million last season, $300 million more than the New England Patriots, the second-most profitable NFL team, according to CNBC's list. In 1995, Jones signed a 10-year, $40 million deal with Pepsi-Cola and made a $2.5 million a year, 10-year deal with Nike. The value of the Cowboys' sponsorship deals has ballooned over the years. But there is no doubt he created the economic blueprint for an NFL team.

CNN —The Dallas Cowboys have become the first professional sports team to be valued at over $10 billion, according to Sportico’s 2024 NFL rankings that were released on Tuesday. The Cowboys, owned by Jerry Jones, were valued at $10.32 billion, far and away the most valuable franchise in the league and an increase of over a billion dollars on the previous estimate of $9.2 billion in February. The Cowboys remain immensely popular though, generating an estimated revenue of $1.2 billion in 2023, 50% higher than the second ranked NFL team, the Los Angeles Rams, according to Sportico. The Rams are valued at $7.79 billion and leapfrogged the New York Giants to take second place but are not in the same stratosphere as Dallas. Per Sportico’s research, the average NFL franchise is worth $5.93 billion, an improvement of 15.4% over last year, as the league continues to be the world’s most financially successful in any sport in terms of team value.

CNN —Longtime NFL and college coach Monte Kiffin has died at the age of 84, the University of Mississippi announced on Thursday. Kiffin passed away peacefully in Oxford, Mississippi, surrounded by friends and family, the school said. The Buccaneers-owning Glazer family said Monte was a “beloved and iconic member” of the organization. “As a coach, Monte was a true innovator who got the best out of his players and helped create one of the signature defenses of the early 2000s,” the Glazer family said in a statement. Lane has been the head coach of Ole Miss since 2020 where Monte has been an analyst on the staff.
