Analyst Nick Lai, who has an overweight rating on the Chinese electric vehicle maker, added Xpeng to the Wall Street bank's positive catalyst watch list in a 17-page report out Sunday. This comes amid JPMorgan's forecast that EREVs and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles combined will make up about 60% of the new energy vehicle market by 2030 – almost double last year's figure. Another event that could drive the stock higher is Xpeng's third-quarter results next month, which Lai thinks will show expanded gross profit margins. Heading into 2025, Xpeng should see more volume growth, JPMorgan said, with the bank forecasting 72% volume growth in 2025. As a result, Xpeng should see positive free cash flow next year and a profit in 2026, according to Lai.

It isn't an accident that people who want to cancel a subscription often have to navigate a web of bureaucracy and confusion. "Actual affirmative consent from a consumer," Witte said, would establish trust between the consumer and the company, boosting loyalty. Along with litigation from the CFPB, state attorneys general have pursued legal action against big companies over hard-to-cancel subscriptions. Last year, Letitia James, New York's attorney general, sued SiriusXM over claims that the radio company trapped customers in subscriptions and maintained a complicated and burdensome cancellation process. AdvertisementIndustries have mastered techniques to maximize their profits by crafting their business models in confusing ways that can lure customers into a subscription without realizing it.

The Democratic National Committee is using the last stretch of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour to urge young people to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris. In conjunction with her shows, the DNC announced that it is launching a Taylor Swift-themed “I Will Vote” campaign across Florida and other battleground states. Ads for the “I Will Vote” campaign will begin appearing across Miami on billboards, including a mobile billboard on a boat near Hard Rock Stadium. The advertisements will encourage young voters to embrace their “Kamala era,” the DNC said in its announcement. Before Swift backed the Democratic ticket, many of her fans had already formed the group Swifties for Kamala — which is unaffiliated with Swift, the DNC or the Harris campaign — to raise money for Harris.

That bullish consensus makes this former CBOT pit trader take pause, and I believe now is the time to hedge some semiconductor exposure. I want to use put options in the VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH) to mitigate downside risk. That came in the wake of better-than-expected results from contract chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor , which counts NVDA as one of its biggest customers. Lastly, I want to consider the technicals setup, as when emotion gets injected into the marketplace, technical typically take over. As a global leader in digital payments, Visa has 4.2 billion credit and payment cards in circulation across more than 200 countries. Through its advanced transaction processing network, VisaNet, the company facilitates payment authorization, clearing, and settlement, and it is one of the most remarkable and consistent growth stories around — along with fellow payment processing company Mastercard. The following chart illustrates its remarkably consistent growth since the pandemic plunge (which naturally suspended considerable economic activity). While a 30 P/E is higher than the market's, the S & P trades closer to 26 times earnings; Visa should trade at a premium. The ability for consumer spending growth to continue apace is limited, so presumably, topline growth will slow somewhat.

While charts like Carnival Corp. (CCL) have once again become overbought, the strength of the recent breakout suggests they may just be getting started. The longer a resistance level is tested, the more meaningful it becomes when the price finally breaks above this price ceiling. As long as CCL remains above this breakout level, the uptrend phase appears to be in good shape. Note the daily RSI which has pushed above the crucial 70 level on the recent breakout. The recent breakout for cruise lines like Carnival Corp. suggests that the uptrend phase may just be beginning.

The Federal Trade Commission is announcing a finalized rule to make it easier for people to cancel subscriptions and memberships they just don’t want anymore. When the proposed rule was announced last year, Khan said, the agency got about 16,000 comments expressing how canceling subscriptions had become a headache at best. Khan and the FTC have already taken legal action against Amazon’s Prime division over accusations that it is luring customers into subscriptions that the FTC alleges are extraordinarily difficult to cancel. “Some members have the ability to cancel their membership online based on their membership type and location of their home club,” it said. Nelson said she’d be grateful for the changes Khan and the FTC are proposing.

As industries increasingly rely on real-time AI models, AKAM's infrastructure offers both speed and security by processing data closer to users. Combined with the company's attractive valuation, it offers substantial upside potential, with the chart showing growing investor interest in its AI-driven opportunities. The S & P 500 continues to make new highs, and volatility continues to decline. First, the S & P 500 has logged just two absolute 1% moves since Sept. 19, which is nearly a month's worth of trading. In fact, 114 S & P 500 stocks made new 52-week highs on Tuesday, which was the first time we've had over 100 since 7/16/24. With the day's opening and close both being higher and lower than the prior session's, this created a bearish engulfing pattern. The bottom line is that the S & P 500 and dozens of its holdings have built up substantial cushions by strongly coming back from the August lows.

The FTC unveiled its final “click-to-cancel” rule, which requires businesses provide a way for consumers to cancel their subscriptions that is just as easy as it is to sign up. That includes everything from gym memberships to digital streaming and e-commerce to cable TV service. “Too often, businesses make people jump through endless hoops just to cancel a subscription,” said Commission Chair Lina Khan in statement by the FTC. Other times they might’ve been able to sign up online, but in order to cancel they had to call and talk to a representative. Other kinds of memberships required them to actually show up in person to cancel their subscription,” Brett said.

In the case of BABA, the blue line (the MACD line) is crossing below the yellow line (the signal line). The trade To capitalize on a pullback in BABA, I'm using a trade structure called a "bear put spread." We're about to enter the Digital Dark Ages

Without laborious renaming, everything behind those links — billions of them, a decade of digital content — will become inaccessible. We're about to enter the Digital Dark Ages. The Department of Veterans Affairs is legally required to preserve all medical records for 75 years after the death of a vet — but it's having problems, in part because of a balky digital records system. "Over the long term, you can't preserve a digital object in its original form," says Manoff, the former MIT librarian. The Dark Ages, as historians used to call the early centuries of medieval Europe, lasted for 500 years.
