Florida’s Hispanic voters back Gov. “There are lots of Hispanic voters in this state who really like the governor’s style, this strongman who won’t back down. And Crist has no mojo,” said Coker, who conducted the bilingual survey of 625 likely Hispanic voters from Oct. 17-22. And other Hispanic voters from throughout Latin America also side with Crist over DeSantis by a narrower percentage, 53% to 43%. One Democrat familiar with the campaign and the controversy confirmed the arrest, which is why Durrer left the campaign. The day after Durrer's arrest, Crist’s campaign announced that he had resigned, telling reporters that Durrer was departing the campaign three weeks before the election to “focus on a family matter.” Prior to the campaign, Durrer served as Crist's chief of staff in his Florida congressional office in Washington. Prior to Durrer’s arrest, Crist’s campaign was trailing Gov. The state's attorney did not immediately provide NBC News a written copy of the probable cause affidavit, nor did the local police department in Cambridge.
