In today's big story, we're looking at how the next job you apply for might be fake . While employment is still relatively low, sitting at only 4% , the job market is also pretty stagnant. Workers were also spoiled with the 2021 job market, where candidates named their prices . AdvertisementAnd a fake job posting might be a blessing in disguise.

Market dynamics mirror 2021, potentially signaling a bear market on the way, Charles Schwab said. There's a growing divergence between index-level and individual stock performanceThe number of individual stocks reaching new highs is falling, despite the market's bull run. AdvertisementCurrent stock market dimensions are starting to mirror 2021, a year that preceded the most recent bear market correction, Charles Schwab wrote this week. Fixed-income investors may want to consider making a few tweaks to their portfolio as the second half of the year gets underway. But the central bank is expected to start cutting rates in the coming months, perhaps as soon as September. However, many on Wall Street still believe two cuts are likely this year, including Charles Schwab. Jones anticipates better returns for fixed income in the second half but believes volatility will remain high. Investors can have a barbell portfolio with Treasurys on one end and investment-grade bonds and an agency MBS on the other, she suggested.

But while fundamental factors around these names are supportive of their multiples, the market isn't in the all-clear zone, according to Charles Schwab chief investment strategist Liz Ann Sonders. "AI and its enthusiasm — I think that's very legitimate," Sonders told CNBC's " Squawk on the Street " on Monday. "At this stage in the game, the trajectory of earnings, you could argue, is supportive of valuations." In contrast to the dot-com bubble, the current AI rally has much stronger fundamental factors correlated to momentum, Sonders said. "You're looking at the party of stocks and what they're doing, or just what the index is doing courtesy of a very small number of stocks," Sonders said.

Global stocks, as measured by the MSCI World Index, are up nearly 10% year-to-date. "I see election risks as one of — if not the biggest — risks to markets in the second half of the year." Why international stocks will best the USInvestors should hedge against the potential downsides of populism and geopolitical conflicts by owning a diverse basket of international stocks, Kleintop said. If that pattern holds, foreign firms will take the baton from US equities, which have mostly led global markets since the financial crisis. Advertisement"I wouldn't say that you would want to abandon US equities, or even abandon some of those high-flying tech or AI-related stocks," Kleintop said.

Buyers who shop around tend to score better deals and more affordable rates, Duncan said. AdvertisementPeople betting that mortgage rates or home prices will come down soon are taking a gamble. Some homebuyers can afford to speculate on the market, but most first-time homebuyers cannot, Duncan noted.

Traders work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange during afternoon trading on June 03, 2024 in New York City. Beyond signaling a still-vibrant labor market, the data at the very least adds to the narrative that the Fed doesn't have to rush to lower interest rates. Even with the unemployment rate rising to 4% in May, the labor market appears vibrant. However, on the other side of the mandate, inflation is still running well above the Fed's target. Most gauges have prices rising annually at about a 3% rate, down significantly from the peaks of mid-2022 but still running hot.

A more encompassing unemployment figure that includes discouraged workers and those holding part-time jobs for economic reasons held steady at 7.4%. The household survey also showed that full-time workers declined by 625,000, while those holding part-time positions increased by 286,000.

As his son tapped home to clinch his first PGA Tour title at the RBC Canadian Open on Sunday, Dougie MacIntyre – the head greenskeeper at Glencruitten Golf Club in Oban, Scotland – simultaneously became a PGA Tour-winning caddie. Tears flowed freely for father and son as the duo soaked up the weight of the achievement on the 18th green. “I’m crying with joy, but I’m laughing because I didn’t think it was possible,” MacIntyre, a first-time PGA Tour victor on his 45th start, told CBS Sports. I’m a grasscutter not a caddie,” 59-year-old MacIntyre, wiping away tears, added to CBS Sports. A slew of big-box retailers have lowered prices on items in recent weeks, citing moderating inflation and frugal customers. Recent economic data has also suggested that inflation is cooling, after data earlier this year spurred fears that progress had stalled. Yet Americans don’t seem convinced that inflation is moderating or that the economy is as healthy as indicators suggest. Mortgage rates have declined in recent weeks but remain near 7%. Target announced plans to cut prices on thousands of consumer basics as inflation cuts into household budgets.
