John Paolo Canton , 40, head of communications at Polestar (an electric-vehicle brand recently launched by Volvo Cars), who lives in San Francisco, on his 1968 Porsche 912, as told to A.J. In 2005, I met a new friend named Pete at the Road America racetrack in Wisconsin. He had a Ducati dealership and was involved in racing, and I worked with racing motorcycles. On the day I met him, he had this Porsche 912 with him. He had restored the car and painted it a strawberry-red that was highly unusual, not just for a Porsche, but for any car.

Prickly pear cacti, native to the arid regions of the Americas, are now thriving in the Swiss Alps. The plants are typically seen in hot, dry areas, such as the Grand Canyon. So, diminishing snow cover provides a fertile environment for them to thrive. Snow cover in the Alps has been plummeting. Another study said the number of days where there is snow cover under 2,600 feet has halved since 1970.
The dam's almost 5000 solar panels produce 3,3 million kilowatt hours of energy per year, enough to supply around 700 houses. Switzerland's government is also making it easier for solar energy to become more prevalent. The country's drive towards more green means of energy production is tied to its decision to phase out nuclear power. “Alpine solar plants can also make an important contribution here,” she said.
On Wednesday, Microsoft announced it will eliminate 10,000 employees, reducing its workforce by 5%, and Amazon began conducting layoffs that will eventually slash 18,000 jobs. Microsoft and Amazon are joining tech industry peers including Alphabet and Meta which have also cut staff in recent months. But an underappreciated factor is how rapidly tech companies ramped up hiring over the last two years. In 2020, widespread Covid lockdowns made internet applications more important to people, supercharging business for many tech companies. Apple is a major exception: It did not appreciably increase its rate of hiring over the last two years, and also has not announced any layoffs.

REUTERS/Denis BalibouseLEYSIN, Switzerland, Jan 4 (Reuters) - Deprived of snow by unusually mild weather, Switzerland's world-renowned ski slopes have proven a disappointment to winter sports aficionados and resort managers eager to make the most of the holiday season. Norah Sweeney, a tourist from Boston, had prepared for a snowy Swiss sojourn, but her hopes quickly melted at the sight of yellowed grass on the slopes. MeteoSwiss, the country's federal office for meteorology and climatology, said Switzerland's average temperature of around 7.4 Celsius in 2022 was by far the warmest year since records began in 1864. Sophie Ruchet, a resident of the Vaud canton who learned to ski at Leysin, wonders if it's even worth having her children learn to ski.

Jon Kendle wanted to work in sports so got a summer internship at the NFL Hall of Fame in 2005. Kendle is now the vice president of museum and archives for the Hall and met Tom Brady on the job. I was born and raised in Canton, Ohio, the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I was able to run down to the archives and find Tom Brady's draft card and show it to him. The draft card is just a piece of paper with a name written on it, but it means so much more.
CHICAGO, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Cooks may have to put away their oversized platters for serving turkey this Thanksgiving. If a farm has an outbreak, producers must disinfect their barns after culling turkeys and wait about six months before restocking. The National Turkey Federation acknowledged that cooks in some geographic areas could see limited supplies of big turkeys. On the U.S. East Coast, Baldor sees a shortage of the bigger sizes as large Thanksgiving celebrations make a comeback, Lindgren said. Shoppers are resuming traditional purchases of turkeys around 18 pounds, after downsizing their birds for smaller gatherings over the last two years, he said.

Higher interest rates are putting more pressure on companies to free up cash from their operations, a cheaper option than relying on credit. Gold holdings lost 1.1 billion francs in value. "The problem is the stagflationary environment where equities lose, bonds lose, gold loses and the Swiss franc becomes stronger. The loss could, however, mean that the central bank halts payouts to the Swiss federal and cantonal governments next year. Continued massive losses could wipe out the SNB's equity, which stood at 204 billion francs at the end of 2021. It helps the credibility of a central bank if it is well capitalized."

She hustled her way into building a business by going to trade shows and getting into wholesale. Our gross sales went from about $27,000 a month to $78,000 a month. It's just now kind of stabilized again by getting us close to our pre-pandemic sales of $80,000 to $100,000 per month. She responded and said, "You won't believe it, but my business partner also owns a space by the original Postino restaurant." It turned out that Scottsdale space resembled our Dallas space.
Players for Bishop Sycamore Photo: HBOOn Aug. 29, 2021, Florida-based IMG Academy, perhaps the most feared football factory in the Wild West of sports-centered prep schools, played a nationally televised Hall of Fame Stadium game in Canton, Ohio. Its opponents were the Bishop Sycamore Centurions, in a contest so lopsided the ESPN announcers were openly concerned about the health and safety of the inept underdogs (who lost 58-0). As we learn in “BS High,” there were several reasons for the game being such a blowout. Chief among them: Bishop Sycamore didn’t really exist.
